He had the statue to be a striker but when he was with us he was nowhere near ready.

Malky said he was one for the future but we needed someone like now then.

Damn mess it was.

One for the future like 10 years in to the future!

Correct, it was absolutely criminal what we paid for him. I remember he came in as a sub at Anfield and even the Liverpool fans were laughing at him !!

I still say there was something dodgy about that deal.

If was criminal but equally poor to throw the lad out to dry like we did. He was made a scapegoat in the battle between MM and Tan. The lad should have gone on 2 or 3 loan deals to prove his worth . Agreed, that is not what was needed at the time but we should never have taken a £8m bath on the lad ( or whatever the sum was ) . 9 years later he’s probably worth the asking price . We’ve spunked a lot of money over the years. The Ole signings were all gash .

Absolutely Spot on.

I don’t know why people judged him so quickly, Malky said he was a long term project which obviously we needed having just been promoted. 8 years on and he’s showing he’s not far off what we paid for him.

Bit unfair to say all Ole’s signings were gash Morrison , Magna and Fabio were ok and Zaha on loan was a disaster but we all wanted him at the time and Kenwyn Jones came with a great record to us Bergunstaler ( or something like that ) has gone on to have a decent career

Very dodgy. I think a few ££ changed hands between a few individuals there mate.

That’s a fair shout on Morrison . Zaha was appalling for us . A player that probably won’t do it for anyone outside of palace / his boyhood club

We didn't need a long term project (and certainly not 8 years!). We needed an experience striker who could score goals straightaway

Exactly. The bare facts are, he cost us £8m and he was utter garbage at the time.

Ole signed some decent players just way too many and not enough balance. Morrisson, Manga, Kenwyne and Pilks all did well for us plus Brugstaller and Guerra were both decent players even if they didn't work out with us.

The Norwegians were a bit shite though.
