BBC Wales news

Tue May 31, 2022 6:16 pm

So we had the shocking news that the Wales NHS will take seven years to reach pre-pandemic levels and not one Wales Government minister but especially the Health or first minister to be seen........

The softest of soft reporting.....oh wait, lets see if Wrexham has won the city of culture

Can you imagine the national news letting Boris get away with a charity worker taking the 5 min "grilling"...

Wales is a little village where you need to be in the "in crowd"

They're idea to help those to get through the difficulties while waiting is to join self help groups ..... but knowing drakeford he and his stooges will somehow manipulate the stats to fit in their agenda of 2026 getting back to pre covid figures.... what you wont see or hear about is the many people who die from not being diagnosed or didn't get their treatment in time... can throw as much money that they boast of and wont make that much difference because theres not the staff or equipment to reduce waiting times at rate they need it to be to get back pre covid times... nhs is a total mess and was before covid
And cannot blame boris for the mess can they? :D

Firstly, due to the formula for funding the Welsh Government is still almost wholly dependent on funding from UK government. They cannot raise additional investment for the NHS.

They are given a small cake and can merely decide how thin each slice is to each department.

Secondly, how long are independent experts predicting it will take to for the NHS to recover in England without additional funding ?

Do the research before you have a pop at a single statistic.

You might notice that's the new politics the opposition bang on about cake or if a woman is born with a penis or not?, evil Big Boris , Rich Ricky, SNP the same independence, Independence, bugger those dying of excessive drugs in Scotland under thier tenership, and the high levels of kids in social care in Wales nevermind the worrying number of deaths compared to other countries of Sepsis . Clever stuff doing nothing and just moan from the sidelines with thier click bate and sit back and watch the stupid media lap it up .

What is the answer to the experts prediction because I couldn't get definitive answer only guideline figures..... the cake is the senedd establishment as the nhs is devolved in wales , so upto WG how the money is spent on nhs.... having spent past ten yrs taking
patients to nhs appointments the situation as been getting worse for yrs and that is down to WG having no strategy to improve the way services are organised... come to pembrokeshire and see the total mess being made of services in this region caused by drakeford gethin and Morgans bright idea to close district hospital and farm out the outpatient services to an hospital smaller than ours and send other patients around Swansea and Cardiff to get treatment or just to see consultant... like said no strategy other than say we are putting in 1billion pounds to eliviate problem... it's not money needed its staff and equipment... staff levels
have been cut for years and now paying price for it...7yrs mmmm very optimistic indeed.

Perhaps not wasting money on loony left projects and get the basics right ambulance times are shocking
Giving every teen coming out of the care system £1200 cash every month for the next 3 years without conditions IE getting a job when they are already under the umberella of the social
and wasting money on gender identification.

Totally agree we are dropping further and further behind England, while the NHS and Ambulance service are suffering, he's concentrating on stupid gimmicks and doing this differently from England, it's pathetic we are finished.

Shows what a dictorial state labour as made WG they paid out compensation to a cyclist but when asked by reporter under freedom of information act they basically said fck off it's none of your buisness so wont reveal how much paid or what steps are taken to prevent further incidents. This is a typical attitude of WG now labour are in bed with plaid and can do what the fck it likes...

Part of me feels like saying - if you voted for Drakeford / Labour at the last Senedd election - then you are getting what you deserve. Drakeford shouldnt be anywhere near that job, Eluned Morgan - the health secretary forgot to mention she has been banned from driving after 6 convictions and Vaughan Gethin ex health secretary made the Welsh ambulance Service the utter joke it was - even before Covid.

Having worked for both the Welsh and English NHS - it is run a lot better over the bridge than it is here. Not doen to the staff - but down the political meddling of the Senedd - in my opinion.

Wales Online / ICWALES is just the mouth for Welsh Labour always with very favourable reporting

But the size of the cake is down to the UK Government, all the Welsh Government can do is decide how big each slice is. That’s where the current devolution settlement isn’t right.

Bottom line is the size of the NHS cake is not big enough and hasn’t been since the for years and certainly for the length of this Government.

Mismanagement is rife had many years to sort out nhs but what have they achieved besides
longer waiting times (pre covid) besides 10yrs doing outpatients I spent 25yrs in nhs before retirement so seen a lot of good but equally lots of ineffective management... did you know health boards have a department specifically to deal with the directives that WG churn out regularly. :o

The same is true for labour in wales but even more so. They know that we won’t vote then out so they just do what they want.

Drakeford as always been egotistical he believes what he says goes regardless of what people say? Lots consultations o er things and he just ignores the people look at m4 as example....now he as determined that the public wont be able to vote for a person but must vote for a party. That will certainly mean labour perpetually in power as labour's always been biggest party in wales... obviously with help of their bed mates plaid.

Things really started going down hill when Cameron and Osbourne started their years of austerity after the 2010 General Election but still 3 of the 4 UK nations committed to maintain NHS spending at a minimum of pre 2010 levels in REAL terms. The outlier was the Welsh Labour Government who refused to give that commitment and in 2015 Wales become the first nation to see NHS spending drop below pre 2010 levels and the Health Minister was Mark Drakeford.

Without doubt the pandemic has broken the NHS in Wales and the answer from Drakeford and his looney left cronies is to increase the number of Senedd members from 60 to 96.

Labour always claim that the NHS is not "Safe" in Conservative hands but in Wales thanks to Drakeford and his cronies the polar opposite is the case.

Shame cant read the article unless I pay them money! Probably a labour rag doing what they do best .. but what's your point? A million people came into country after lockdown how many came during lockdown 10? One would expect the numbers to be high after lockdown only need to see how many people going on hols compared to last year to see the parallels... try dividing the figures over 2 yrs and its 500k (lockdown 2020) anyway " claims" mean an unsubstantiated view by person making it. I could claim your stammer? :laughing6:

Re: BBC Wales news

The Telegraph is not a Labour rag. The 1 million figure is not a claim. It's recorded data.
The "claim" made in headline that you read was of a "broken Brexit promise"
Immigration didn't stop during lockdown either.
But yeah, good old Boris. 1 million immigrants in a year is a joke, you're being taken for a fool if you believe good ole Boris is strong on immigration.

What they're saying is, recorded data shows that good ole Boris let in 1 million immigrants during the past year. As you read yourself on the headline.
The broken promise is that Boris would control our borders after Brexit.
