‘ Chris Wilder wants shot of him ‘

Mon May 30, 2022 3:43 pm

MY VIEW: NO THANKS

Started of brightly like he does everywhere, then fades badly, a journey man.

Uche Ikpeazu's name has been circulated around potential suitors this summer with the striker surplus to requirements at Middlesbrough, according to TeessideLive.

Ikpeazu arrived on loan in January and scored two crucial goals for Cardiff, the first against Barnsley and the second against Derby County, both in 1-0 wins, as the Bluebirds were looking to claw their way away from the bottom three, from then on he faded.

However, having returned to Boro, it looks as though Chris Wilder wants shot of him as quickly as possible in order to get two new strikers in to complement Duncan Watmore and Josh Coburn. As things stand, Cardiff don't appear to be in the running to bring him back to the Welsh capital next term.

"It’s rather ironic that Wilder has found himself with two additional strikers in Uche Ikpeazu and Chuba Akpom, both of whom have returned from loan spells," TeessideLive report.

"Ikpeazu is an honest fellow but fell short of what Boro were looking for last season, while Akpom has had his opportunity and not come up for scratch. It suggests that Wilder will be looking at Duncan Watmore and Josh Coburn and two others as he formulates his attack for next season.

"Ikpeazu and Akpom are among the list of fringe players whose names are already likely to have been circulated around other clubs."

Another howler from Warnock. A great man manager, and I know he signed some good players for us, but he has an equally poor record in the transfer market.

FOREVER BLUE

Not suprised he' s a big unit and thats about all you could say
a warnock striker you don' t have to be 6ft 16 stone plus to score as a striker jamie vardy' s a half pint but quick
Thats what i want in a striker not rugby centre forward.

That’s the way Warnock plays.

But not for me.

When we originally had to pay 50% of his wages we moved away from him, then NO one wanted him, and City paid No more than 30% of his wages, that was to much in my opinion.

We won’t go near him on his wages and let’s be honest he is never consistent, we were desperate at the time.

Yeah agreed, he was the right man at the right time for us. I'm just glad we seem to be moving away from that style now, despite some great experiences, results and successes, it's been painful to watch since DJ left.

I agree, not enjoyable to watch.

I didn't have a problem with us signing him as he was always just going to be a back-up to Hugill and he did score a couple of vital goals to win us games.

But he was just a different option and was never going to fit in as a starter. It's even more disappointing that his affable public image was a front and that behind the scenes he was not well liked.

He'd probably fit in well with his style at Luton or somebody like that but his days here are done. We might go out and sign another big striker just to have that option of the bench in particular games but they won't be first choice that's for sure and even then they'll have to be more mobile than Uche.

If we could have him on loan pay 30% of his wages again I'd take him. With 7 subs named he be a decent impact option to have, he did make a difference when he came on at times.
Probably have to wait till the end of the window if boro still can't shift him may settle 30% I guess would cost us about 5k a week

Definitely a shock and awe player coming off the bench. I wouldn't say no.

Score 3 or 4 important goals for us and was a great impact sub. I don't think he's a very good all-round player though and a one-trick pony. I don't think he fits our new style so definitely no from me.

Gosh no thanks unless he only wants 5k per week as an impact bench player voting on in the 75th minutes now and then . That puts him him on a cracking hourly rate
