‘ Cardiff City Away to Bury ‘

Sun May 29, 2022 7:04 pm

1989-90 Season Cardiff City were relegated from League 3 to League 4 after losing away to Bury.

We averaged about 3,600 with home crowds as low as 2,000 that season at home, I keep wondering where all Our fans were in them days.

I just found this on the pitch at the end of the game, Cohen Griffiths, Jason Perry, Damon Searle etc clapping our fans in the away end behind the goal, I managed to get on the pitch at the end to clap.

Still for me, I loved those days , the loyalty by our fans was amazing and our players appreciated us, in lower divisions that’s when you see who is loyal.

I’ve also seen us promoted at Gigg Lane in the 1975-76 Season and also battered on the pitch 3nil in a midweek away game their and Spencer Prior came over and said I’m sorry we were shit, you deserve better.

I’m glad Bury have a team again even though as far down as the 9th or 10th league.

I was in Uni in Loughborough at the time with a few other City fans we drove across for this game. Went to loads in the Midlands and up North over those few seasons. More than I saw at home.

I remember all 3 of those games, and that picture too Annis.

In our 3-0 defeat, I remember one of their goalscorers came out in the press and rightly trashed us. A midweek game, prior to which, we had been on a very good run if my memory serves me right.
