" Wales squad for play-off final and Nations League "

Everton and Sunderland striker Nathan Broadhead has been called up to Rob Page's Wales squad for their upcoming World Cup play-off final and UEFA Nations League ties.

Broadhead was once heralded as one of the next big things in Welsh football and has gone some way to justifying that tag courtesy of a tremendously successful campaign on Wearside, despite a three-month stint on the sidelines with a hamstring injury. The 24-year-old, on loan from Everton, has netted 13 goals in 26 games for the Black Cats, who are currently preparing for a League One play-off final with Wycombe.

There are otherwise few surprises in Page's squad, with captain Gareth Bale invariably included despite his continued lack of game-time for Real Madrid. Fellow star Aaron Ramsey also gets the nod and will hope to put his disappointment in the Europa League final behind him after missing a crucial spot-kick for Rangers in their penalty shootout defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Nottingham Forest's Brennan Johnson, another man preparing for a Wembley play-off final towards the end of the month, also takes his place in the squad. Cardiff City's Mark Harris and Rubin Colwill are called up, but Swansea City defender Ben Cabango misses out due to injury.

Wales kick off a crucial international window with a trip to Poland in the UEFA Nations League on June 1, before hosting either Scotland or Ukraine in a gargantuan World Cup play-off final four days later.

They then host the Netherlands on June 8, before welcoming Belgium to the capital three days later, ending a busy summer schedule with a return clash against the Dutch on June 14.

Does suggest Page has his favourites or much like Morison he wants a particular type of "all effort" player.

How does Morrell keep getting selected? He's genuinely awful

I can’t believe Williams and Gunter are still getting picked. I can’t imagine Tom Lawrence, and even Tom Lockyer being to impressed.

I have to agree with other posters on here, how the hell can morrell and Williams still be getting picked?
This surely indicates that Rob Page is not the man to take Wales into the WC campaign? I wish Giggs would step down so we can get a decent full time manager.
I suppose the argument could be that there is no one available?
Just because I'm paranoid it doesn't mean they're not talking about me

Morel always does well when he plays, and while there are other better players he gives something others don't, and has a good long pass on him.

Williams, I can't defend as well but he's a good professional and I imagine it's too do with team spirit and dressing room -which is so important with Wales, we are better than the sum of our parts. Which is why Lawrence who seems a bit of a **** isn't there

That's my take

It's a funny old game, how people perceive things differently.

I always notice he gives the ball away, is unable to hold onto it due to a lack of physical presence and speed, and generally disappears in the game, and is easily overrun.

Williams is decent, much better at keeping the ball but also suffers from similar lack of presence. Although if he loses the ball, it tends to be higher up the field and less impactful, whereas Morell tends to lose it in our own half or near the half way line.

Just realised Will Vaulks isn't in there, and Morrell and Williams in over him. Surely you'd have 1 of WIlliams and Morrell, and then Vaulks. Williams and Morrell both very similar, whilst Vaulks offers more steal and a goal threat.

Tom Lawrence not Pages friend, Johnny Williams is. Sorry but I don't rate Page even plays Gunter who's not even with a club, Players from lower leagues seems we are going backwards with him.Hope Wales get through and not backfire on him. Harris selected cant maintain a Cardiff place, Giggs came in a revamped the whole team turned over a new page now page is turning it back. Bale and Ramsey played with world class players now playing with some 3rd rate players they cant be happy with that.
