Cardiff City sign goalkeeper Jak Alnwick from St Mirren on a free transfer
Alnwick 29 years old next month.
Made 6 appearances for Newcastle 10 yrs ago and 6 appearances for Rangers in his 3 years stay with the Glasgow club.
Cardiff City have confirmed their second signing of the summer and it comes in the form of goalkeeper Jak Alnwick.
Alnwick, who has joined on a two-year deal, had been a target for Cardiff for some time, with the Bluebirds having to replace Alex Smithies, and potentially youngster George Ratcliffe, upon the expiration of the goalkeeper's contract.

Cardiff City agree deal with Jak Alnwick
The Bluebirds have agreed terms with goalkeeper Jak Alnwick on a two-year deal, subject to clearance.
The twenty-eight-year-old, who will formally move to the Welsh capital on July 1st, 2022, has spent the past two seasons with St. Mirren in the Scottish Premiership, making 83 appearances for the Buddies.
Alnwick made his professional debut for Newcastle United in 2011, before joining Port Vale in 2015. The stopper moved north of the border to Rangers in 2017, and aided Blackpool to promotion from League One during a 2019/20 loan spell at Bloomfield Road.
After finalising the agreement at Cardiff City Stadium, Jak said: “As soon as I heard that the Club were interested I couldn’t wait to get here. It has been a long couple of days, but to get it over the line is amazing and I can’t wait to get into pre-season and get started. I wanted to be playing in the EFL and it was the next step in my career.
“I can’t wait to meet everyone, including all of the fans, and show them what I can do. It’s a huge club and I’m delighted to be here.”
City boss Steve Morison was at CCS as his new signing put pen-to-paper. He added: “He’s really experienced and we needed to add in that department. He’s an excellent goalie and he’s at the peak of his powers.
“He’s got a great pedigree and he was really pleased to come, and that’s what we want; we want people who want to come, we want people who want to be a part of it, and we want the fans to be excited by the signings.
“He’s had a really good season, four clean sheets in his last four games and he comes here ready to be part of it next season. We’re really excited to have him on board.”

Welcome Jak. Feel this is gonna be a good signing.
He's 2nd best overall rating of all keepers in the league. 2nd of saves and 4th on clean sheets!
But the best stats are on the screenshot... he's made a real difference. He's decreased expected goals against by over 10. Only Craig Gordon is better. Shows he's a great shot stopper when you compare to the other keepers in the league!

Nice stats, thank you for sharing. I wonder if we took a Brentford like approach with this signing.

Aberdeen were also after him. Can't imagine he's joining to be second choice.

So Alnwick is an experienced keeper who has been rated at all the club's he's been at. The St Mirren fans rate him and are sorry to see him go plus he won MOTM the other night. Sounds like a good signing.

Apparently VT needed a bit of persuading to approve the signing when he saw that Alnwick had played over 200 games without scoring a goal.
