‘ Shock as another City player on way out? ? ‘

Tue May 03, 2022 10:20 am

I was told today apparently one of our other future / bright youngsters Kieron Evans aged 20 has been told he will either be sent out on loan next season as still under contract or if another club comes in for him, City will release him? ?

Apparently we will see the loan market fully used and more younger players coming in from other clubs next season.

It will be interesting to see how many of our 18,19, 20, 21 year olds from our U23’s etc will be used next season???

Players like Sam Bowen were going out until injured.

Inrahim Bakare and D’almeidha both aged 20 are both being released by Cardiff City:

Bakare captained the U23s.

If they are 20 years old and they are not making the bench on a regular basis then they are clearly not good enough.

I was saying that before the season started, but was slated by the usual suspects.

Don’t get me wrong, i love to see the youth given a chance. But we can’t give them chance after chance if we know they won’t make it.

I have always wanted our youngsters to make it, but they were making out we suddenly had loads making it, which I questioned as in the real world that does not happen, for 2-3 make it that’s brilliant in itself, suddenly we had a dozen, that’s why we are where we are today.

Yeah that's pretty spot on. Even 2 youngsters being drafted into the first team would have been unusual but to have 6, 7 or however many it was is unthinkable. Anyhow, the season is nearly over and hopefully this experiment will not be repeated next season.

I would be happy if we could produce 1 regular first teamer from the academy each year rather than the 1 a decade we have managed this century

Although in fairness I do believe 3 maybe 4 of the current crop will make it

Exactly, they took the fans for mugs.
Even Morison put a stop to it.

Agreed.

Where we have fallen down in the past, particularly in the Warnock days, was that we didn't give ANY kids a chance despite people like Bellamy saying that we had some real talent in the Academy/U23s. Some of those players will have fallen by the wayside simply because any chance of making it was blocked at first team level. It's one of the main reasons Warnock has been a short-term appointment virtually everywhere, particularly in recent years.

He even carried that on at Boro when he loaned out Djed Spence to Forest this season and he has been one of the stars of the season.

I still think that Colwill, Denham and possibly Isaak Davies (as a winger) could make it from the current crop.

The jury is out on Bagan, because he needs to improve defensively. For King and Bowen there are similar doubts but mainly because we've hardly seen them play at this level.

Hopefully, moving forward we can now start to see just one or two come through each season which is a much more sustainable model, in line with the better run clubs in the Championship

When he stood up to the board about being pushed in to having a squad full of the U23’s I was more than happy.
Since the last few months have gone on, all he ever dies is praise them, for what??

This season summed up by a post on tbis thread....

I hope the ridiculous EXPERIMENT put in place by Tan and his cronies to compete at our level with cheap kids is NOT REPEATED next season.

I want to see that lessons have been learnt from a record breaking disastrous season.

I agree. How many teams do you see fielding more than 3 youngsters on a regular in one single season? Not many I bet. Not even the top clubs can do it every season. Our board were deluded to think we could have a team full of academy players.

Why is this a shock ?

If they are not near the first team by 20 then they need to find their level. We are bound to let the next Jamie Vardy go but someone has to make a decision.

We are getting lads from far higher rated academies and selling giving them a chance, our lads need to be that level just to stay on.

I get shot down when I say that by 20 they should of made it.

It’s a shock because EVANS according to Glen Williams & Dalman was suppose to be one of the great kids coming through. They built him up.
