OK we were slow and cumbersome in possession but the moans and groans and shouts of "get it forward, mun" and "quicker" i am wondering if our fans really want it.
Nobody wanted Micks football, but there is no right way to play.
People like Pep have grown up in a certain culture and know what they want and how to get it, he recruits players and importantly staff to coach it, copying or reading about it isn't the same. When Vaulks started spraying 40 yard ball behind the full backs the crowd got up for it.
When SM was plying his trade as a target man from non league through the divisions ending up at the premier league and internationals how did he think the game should be played ? I still don't know.
I hope we don't become a poor Barca/citeh imitation like Swansea as the Jack fans seem to love all that pointless passing, i don't reckon ours will.
I doubt its classed as modern, but i loved the first half of Warnock promotion season.
SM talks a good game to the media about the future, i am almost excited, then the reality hits me every time i watch us play and i think, What are we trying to achieve with the passing from the back, we have no outlets, it just looks like passing for passing sake.
If we are going to hold onto the ball more, we don't need a target man. Hugil has been poorer the higher the possession stats.
Do you think our fans would stomach us playing like Swansea ?

Think it's to earlyvyo say how we will be playing next seaso fue yo the turnover of players that will happen... what we fo know morison k ows what he wants in way players if he can get them perhaps we will play bit of both possession but quicker passing and more forward thinking movement.. think out fans like the style of play but unfortunately dont yet have players to be more expansive added to no natural finisher watters looks best of bunch as his movement is far ahead of rest strikers but needs time as been out for awhile.... as for Swansea mmmm 71% possession today 3 shots on target fairly indiquitive of their season..would hate to watch players passing between each other inside own half.... dont understand why people are basing everything for next season on this seasons players ... 90% of who wont be in started team or even at club next season.

If it means a sustained Premier League stint then yes, absolutely. If it means it improves our young players and consistency between first team and youth team a resounding yes.
It is about time a club like ours tried something different and stuck with it.
We need a successful season or two playing in that "progressive" style to shut the "get it forward" crew up. The time has come to ignore what some people online or people in the stands shout out and do it their own way. That's what we all want deep down, just someone needs the balls to do it. It could be SM.
Give him this Summer and we may just be pleasantly surprised.

You almost answered your own question. First half the season under Warnock was exciting but like most of the sides he took up we became a busted flush. Teams couldn't cope with the physicality and the sheer size of our team but eventually we were worked out by other sides and he walked before he was pushed. The following managers were stuck with his signings who became less effective as a unit but now at last the current manager can redevelop the side totally. I don;t ever seeing a Morison side playing like swansea. The guy needs to be given a chance.

I drifted a bit on the question, it whether our fans are ready for the change, did anyone ask them ? I want it but I am one of 20K.
There was a moment in the second half when a corner was defended by Brum,Vaulks had the ball the ball just inside their half and a few fans shouted don't pass it back, I thought WTF, pass it back to the keeper Will, he did ,they moaned.
We don't have a culture of modern football, even the DJ years played an old fashioned (442) all out attack game that always just came up short over the season as poorer players but better teams ground out results.

Great point.
We are not used to a style, a way and only poor play, tense wins, snatched draws or defeat.
We have lost faith and trust.
Hate the moans and groans in the stadium, how shite is that for the players on the pitch!
A massive off season for us as we may have fallen into a watchable way maybe????

We are too slow straight from the time we kick off we are always on the backfoot never any urgency in our play whether it's a throw in or free kick, no one seems to have a clue and 5 yard passes are simply beyond some or most of our players, new coaches and a whole squad needed for next season simple

I think we do. It’s just we Havnt got the players to play that way. It’s not a case of we want to see 70% possession passing it around our back 5 for majority of the game. But aimless balls up top, in hope of getting the 2nd ball is outdated. We want to see a midfielder actually pass a ball forward, splitting open a defence with a runner getting on the end of it. Or a winger bombing down the wing to square it for a tap in. We want to see a team that closes down and presses when out of possession not standing off allowing a strike from distance like we have been doing, or letting a team like Swansea play and pass around while we stand off. We could do with a player that likes the odd shot from outside the box like Whitts also. There’s a lot to change but we have to be patient. Hopefully it will come together with the correct players that can actually fit in the that style of play.
