Exclusive: No More Adidas - Cardiff to Switch to New Balance?

As we reported last month, various Adidas kit deals in the English Championship are on the verge of ending. Cardiff City's contract with the Three Stripes is coming to a conclusion at the end of this season, with a renewal off the table.

With Cardiff City most likely leaving Adidas in the summer, potential successors are already being rumored.

We have received information that the club from Wales will sign with none other than New Balance for the 2022-23 season. No further details are known at this point, but it does seem like a plausible rumor.

For the 2021-22 season, New Balance did not sponsor a single Premier League or Championship team. In fact, their last deal in one of England's higher leagues was with Liverpool (until 2020).

NEW BALANCE HAVE NEVER PRODUCED KITS IN THE ENGLISH CHAMPIONSHIP BEFORE

The Championship as it exists today has been around since 2004-05, with not a single kit ever having been produced by New Balance. Should they sign with Cardiff, it would be a first for the American sports brand.

Probably means a good deal if true? as it will be their flagship deal to encourage other clubs to look at them.... wonder what kit look like maybe a reference to bygone days tinge of yellow white and blue?
But probably boring plain blue.

it really is about time we reverted to having yellow and white in the home kit and a yellow away kit with blue and white as these are acknowledged as some of our best looking kits and for a long time were part of our identity. I can't stand these all blue kits especially this season's with its black trim... The away kits have been pretty good, but its a chance now to re-establish our colours which is all part of bringing the club together again. Oh, and white shorts please!!

I think New Balance is an alright kit supplier. Would prefer Adidas because they do the best kits but I guess the club cant stick with the 1 supplier for long.

An old article exposing the rip off prices of football replica kit but still relevant. Basically, a £50 top costs £5 to manufacture from cheap labour and then various parties take their cut with the club actually not making much at all. As much as I love Adidas, the big brands hide behind R&D costs but that's BS. The big costs to them are global marketing including paying elite clubs/stars to leverage their own brand to sell product and then they add a.massive mark up. I think our change is as a result of this, as we've offered a better margin. That said, the 3 stripes will always be the best football kit brand for me.

Got to be honest I know adidas is good quality gear but I've not been a massive fan of any of our kits from them. I think it's since we started wearing 'Chelsea' blue :old:

£65 seems to be the standard price for one of their replica shirts recently.
