Cardiff City winger Josh Murphy's miserable season has gone from bad to worse after his loan club Preston North End bombed him out of the squad with immediate effect, with reports citing "punctuality and attitude" problems.

The 27-year-old's campaign started with Mick McCarthy sanctioning a loan move to the Deepdale club, who were managed at the time by Murphy's former coach at Norwich City, Frankie McAvoy. But the player's season has lurched from one disappointment to the next, with lack of game-time and injuries blighting his stint with the Lancashire outfit.

If ever there was a player with so much potential but with such seemingly poor application, Josh Murphy has to be right up there...

It's a crying shame and I was one who defended him for a long time; but he is now throwing away his career...

Who is going to give him the money he will want to warm a bench and then show no willingness to work for the team?

It's just a thought, but I wonder if Steve Morison could/want to get a tune out of him on a reduced contract?

I somehow doubt it but it could be a timely kick up the jacksie and a lifeline to a dwindling career

He’s on his way out.

Simply not going to fit into the new style of play and attitude required.

What a sad waste of a talent , millionaire with his wages from Cardiff, if you have not got the right attitude you have no chance.
Be lucky to pick up a league 1 club, word will have gone around the circuit.
Like Tomlin , what a waste.

Agree, and there will still be people on here saying he wasn't given a proper chance

So that's Warnock, Harris, McCarthy and Preston who have all failed to "get a tune" out of Murphy. Let's be honest, it was never down to the managers it was down to Murphy's lack of application.

Good riddance but that was a very expensive mistake by Warnock.

Always remember seeing him play against Real Betis in pre season, just after he signed. I thought we got a cracking player here. How wrong I was.

Should the City offer him (say) £5,000 per week for a season? Or maybe £6,000 per week on a pay as you play basis ie no money if he is out of the squad.

I was delighted when we signed him. Saw him a few times for Norwich, I thought we’d signed a real quality player. I also thought it was good business by warnoxk to sign him and Bobby Reid, thinking that we had to young hungry players to have a go at the premiere league, but if we did get relegated we had two players with sell on value, or 2 very good championship players to stay with us. Guess it just didn’t work out but I do not blame warnock one bit.
