This is very sad; I went to watch City at Oldham many times and it was always a challenge at their old-style ground (and often outside it)

Hopefully, they can rise again and I wish them well :ayatollah:

Yes its a shame. For some reason I liked Oldham as a kid. So I have always had a soft spot for the Latics. Boundary Park was pretty chilly midwinter, and if memory serves it was the highest ground above SL

Hope they (and Wrexham) return soon. :bluebird:

Oldham's attendances have been in decline for decades, around half the population of Oldham is now foriegn with no link to the football club. They're more likely to support a top 7 premier league club. Liverpool/United etc etc
I think we'll see many clubs outside the big 7 fall into obscurity as mass immigration continues unabated. It is sad and the native population of Britain were never asked.

I remember getting to boundary park 10 minutes late back in the 70s and we were already 2 down. Went on to draw 2 2 so think I got the best of it. Also remember winning 7.1 there with Andy Campbell getting a hatrick.

The latter was his debut; and we thought we'd bought a worldy...!

Didn't score too frequently after that but had great pace and the supporters loved him; and still do after he scored one of our club's great and important goals versus QPR at the MillStad in the First Division Play-off Final

What a day and what a goal; and all in our home city! :ayatollah: :notworthy:

Play-off final 2003: Cardiff City 1-0 QPR

With one sweep of his left foot, Andy Campbell ended 18 years of hurt for Cardiff City fans as the Bluebirds returned to the second tier of English football for the first time since 1985.

Supersub Campbell sent nearly 40,000 long-suffering City fans delirious with his 114th-minute winner in today's nerve-wrecking Second Division play-off final against Queens Park Rangers at the Millennium Stadium.

With 11 minutes remaining Lawrence gambled, taking off Earnshaw and replacing him with Campbell, a player who failed to make an impression in this campaign.

A fresh pair of legs, Campbell was soon menacing the Rangers defence and in extra-time he set up Whalley, but the midfielder failed to connect.

Then, after 114 nail-biting minutes, Campbell struck his incredible winner.

Ollie’ was manager of a Queens Park Rangers team shot down by Andy Campbell in the Millennium Stadium final and he says: “I still can’t bring myself to say the lad’s name who scored it!

Holloway was left devastated by Campbell’s extra time winner.
