Youngsters sending out on loan next year?

STEVE MORISON:

"We’ve had conversations. Some of those who are out on loan will come back and go straight back out on loan again next year."

I think it’s imperative. It’s something we haven’t done for a long time, looking after that core group just underneath the first team and ahead of the 23s, they need to get better."

We have nine players out on loan, which apart from the two senior ones, Josh Murphy and Gavin Whyte, they are all on development loans. I might be speaking out of turn, but I don’t ever remember Cardiff doing stuff like that - being so proactive about their players for the future. It’s something we’ve created since I’ve been in and is something which is really beneficial.

There are people who are in the under-23s now who are not quite ready to step up, the likes of Jai Semenyo, people like that, would be much more beneficial that they go and have a loan and prove somewhere else that they are good enough for a recall in January and will make a difference to our team. I think it’s imperative and really important."

100% agree with this approach. Get under 23's who are too good for that level out on loan a.s.a.p. Where they will actually play a meaningful part at a club. Look at James Connolly, proven he is ready for at least League 1 in my opinion.

Only issue we will have is with all the good under 23's out on loan or near our first team squad, it almost become pointless having an under 23's team unless it's just an extension of the under 18's
