Cardiff City have registered in interest in signing Forest Green Rovers midfielder Ebou Adams, it is understood.

Adams, who is out of contract with the League Two club this summer, joined Forest Green in 2019 from Ebbsfleet after a two-year spell with Norwich City, although he never featured in a competitive senior match for the Premier League club between 2016-18.

The 26-year-old, who plays as a central midfielder, has been a key part of Rob Edwards' side this term, by and large featuring for the full 90 minutes in every game for which he has been fit. The Gloucestershire side sit top of League Two with a five-point buffer and look almost certain to achieve promotion to the third tier and Adams' contribution this term has not gone unnoticed.

The 11-cap Gambia international has drawn interest from further up the football pyramid this season and one club keen on him is in fact Cardiff, who have a big recruitment job ahead of them this summer.

As things stand, they will be losing Joe Ralls, Will Vaulks, Marlon Pack and Leandro Bacuna, although it is hoped a deal can still be struck with Ralls. But Adams is indeed someone Cardiff have identified as a player who can help fill the void.

Adams has a WhoScored average rating of 7.26 this season, making him the third best player in Forest Green's squad this term based on those metrics. He is the 10th-best player in the entire division, according to the same website.
