Three new faces targeted amid ambitious Wallace swoop

But wages once again could be the Bluebirds problem as these players are way above City’s wages for next season.

As usual Cardiff will be linked, but City are looking at the lower end of the market.

Cardiff have been linked with a triple swoop for Ryan Allsop, Michael Hector and Jed Wallace.

With Derby’s fate sealed and Wayne Rooney’s side condemned to League One, goalkeeper Allsop could be a realistic target. He established himself as Rooney’s number one choice from December onwards, and although the Rams couldn’t avoid relegation, Morison seems keen on the shot-stopper, with Alex Smithies leaving at the end of the campaign.

Hector, meanwhile, has fallen out of favour under Marco Silva at Fulham this season. The Jamaican centre-back has played a bit-part role in the Cottagers' promotion push and has been limited to three league appearances this term. With question marks remaining over Sean Morrison and Aden Flint as their contracts run down, links with 29-year-old Hector could have basis.

Wallace was a former team-mate of Steve Morison at Millwall during the time they spent together at The Den from 2016 to 2019. His contract expires at the end of the season, but he will not be short of suitors, with competition likely to be fierce for the winger.
