Uninspiring Cardiff City player ratings as Bluebirds lack cutting edge
By Glen Williams
Dillon Phillips 6
Made a few really decent saves and was far more commanding in his area. Couldn't really do a lot for the goal.
Cody Drameh 6
Gave Robert Snodgrass too much time to cross for Harry Cornick's goal. Blew hot and cold going forward, perhaps looks a little jaded at the minute.
Perry Ng 6
More than comfortable with the ball at his feet but still looks less convincing at centre back in a back two, so to speak.
Curtis Nelson 6
A decent performance from the captain for the day. Very good in one-v-one situations but was outjumped by Cornick for his goal.
Joel Bagan 6
Sent in a couple of lovely crosses to dangerous areas. Found Colwill with one but the ball flew over the bar.
Tommy Doyle 6
Looked really neat and tidy throughout and came into his own in the second half. Had one mazy run before hitting his effort over the bar and then laid the ball on a plate for Davies, who fired over.
Ryan Wintle 7 (star man)
Made one fantastic intervention after a Drameh mistake, sprinting back to deny Fred Onyedinma a great opportunity to score. Kept play ticking nicely when in possession, too.
Will Vaulks 6
A pretty solid performance from the midfielder, who did everything you could ask of him really.
Alfie Doughty 6
Was sometimes the most advanced player as he looked to get in behind the defence. Forced off after 19 minutes through injury, though.
Rubin Colwill 7
Looked the most likely to create in the first half, taking balls on the half turn and playing in his team-mates. Just struggled to produce that x-factor moment when it counted.
Jordan Hugill 6
Playing as a lone striker is tough work but he did chuck himself about. Had a golden one-v-one chance which he hit straight at the keeper.
Subs
Isaak Davies (Doughty 19) 6
Looked really bright after his introduction. Zipped past the opposition defenders and created chances. Should have scored after Doyle put him in on goal, though, a big opportunity missed.
Mark Harris (Doyle 78) NA - Didn't really have much of an opportunity to impress.
Uche Ikpeazu (Hugill 81) NA - Same as above, really.

Glen keeping everyone happy there
dillon Phillips 6
Good shot stopper and one was a worldly, flaps at every cross like daffy duck on speed and piss poor distribution
Cody Drameh 6
Better as a wingback, this system takes away his greatest asset his ability to intercept and counter
Perry Ng 5
More than comfortable with the ball at his feet than any of the other centre backs we have but he is not a centre back. He can cover next season if we need but surely not a starter
Curtis Nelson 6
Very good in one-v-one situations but needs a better partner
Joel Bagan 5
Back to the Joel of Micks era, scared to take anyone on, but just about does enough to snuff out attacks
Tommy Doyle 5
Always looks neat and tidy but poor decisions today. Luton over powered him. This is the main position in a 4231 and he didn't influence play that much.
Ryan Wintle 7 (star man)
Great defensive midfielder, did his job, but when he is the star we must have lost
Will Vaulks 6
Want to play the same position as Wintle but not as good
Alfie Doughty 6
Quicker than i thought, not sure if he is a goal scorer
.
Isaak Davies (Doughty 19) 6
Added pace, needs to be out wide for a while, still snatching at chances
Rubin Colwill 7
We lose too much speed when he is on the right, he is better than Doyle play him centrally
Jordan Hugill 5
Tried, but smothered by Luton knowing where the ball was always going to go.
