MY VIEW / OPINION:

IT FELT LIKE PRE-SEASON FRIENDLY BY CARDIFF FOR THE MAJORITY OF THE GAME / NO WONDER THE GROUND LOOKED SO EMPTY

Have we actually improved since the Swansea game?

I think they are already on their summer holidays.

It was like watching paint dry

Injury hit Luton were without suspended Sonny Bradley

Jed Steer, Gabriel Osho, Alex Palmer, Cameron Jerome and Henri Lansbury were all out.

Luton looked a poor side as well.

This is such a poor division.

Curtis Nelson was named Captain.

FIRST-HALF: Luton were looking the better of the two teams and looked compact and organised in the first 20mins.

Over all quite a boring first-half and a very quite crowd.

SECOND-HALF: At one stage i wondered if Phillips had to make a save

CARDIFF CITY 0 LUTON TOWN 1
H-T 0-0
Crowd
Away Support( 1,253 )

Cardiff City : Phillips; Drameh, Nelson, Ng, Chart; Wintle, Vaulks; Doyle, Colwill; Doughty Hugill.

Subs: Luthra, Denham, McGuinness, Flint, Harris, Davies, Ikpeazu.

19mins: Doughty went off injured, Isaak Davies on.

Over all quite a boring first-half and a very quite crowd.

H-T 0-0

51st min: Top save from Phillips. Burke's cross was half-cleared by Drameh to Snodgrass. The Scot whipped a shot off with his left foot but Phillips flies through the air and palms it away :thumbright:

GOAL! Cardiff City 0-1 Luton Town (Cornick 71)
Goal. Cornick heads in.

Snodgrass with the cross and Cornick gets up above Nelson and sends a fantastic header past Phillips. Had a lot of work to do to get that one in from near the penalty spot.

78th min: Harris on for Doyle

81st min: Hugill off, Ikpeazu on

Yep 12 home defeats in a season when the quality of the championship has been poor.

What a hard watch that was 1 shot from cardiff and davies balloned it over the bar clearly nothing to play for apart from the "fans" who turned up payed there money we are hardly going to put more bums next season with performances like that
Yes it was luton we where playing who had something to play for but i cannot remember there keeper making a save in 90 mins

Totally on the beach. Finishing was simply the difference our was poor and Luton took their chance. Luton created little. How are they 4th? Morison also sat on his hands at 70 minutes when Luton were getting a grip. Needed to make earlier changes. Can't wait for the season to end now.

Hougill clean through he saved it! But another game could and should have won! Enough chances created to score but as usual other team score with what wasnt really a chance just a very lucky goal off back of his head..... cèst la vie!

Spot on. The quality has been poor, and losing 12 at home!?

Dreamworld: had we won half of those, we'd be in the playoffs.

Is it poor because we lost 12 at home or is it poor because people say same every season?..
More to point we have been poor for 3/4 of season

Unfortunately, whichever way we look at it, losing 12 at home is poor.

I will be glad when the season is over.

The first half we held our own but the second half we really did nothing. Luton played for it and got the break. We never look like getting back in after their goal.

It just feels like we are running down the season.

Absolutely looks and feels that way!

Incredible as you'd think individuals would be straining at the leash to earn new contacts. Unless some know that they are definitely leaving (in which case, why play them?)

Or...

Some have been awarded new contracts and thinking about holidays and a new kitchen

:?

The last 4 games have shown what a massive job is ahead in the summer I did think after the Stoke game we were heading to midtable and was quite positive.

I couldn’t disagree with you more about the performance and we’re normally similar in our opinions on the games !!

I thought we played really well today and some of the passing and movement was excellent.

We did slightly lack a foil for Hugill and I think if we’re sticking with a back four we’ll need a couple of wide players next season (Doughty looked good until he went off).

Bagan was again a worry for me but let’s hope he can conquer is positioning problems of the next few games.

Nelson looked excellent as part of a centre back pairing and I really didn’t think I’d ever say those words.

To me, this was exactly the type of performance I wanted to see in the last few games. Trying new formations and testing youngsters against a team that are right in the mix for the playoffs.

Personally I thought a draw would have been a fair result but it all about opinions !!

Some of the players have, ran out of, steam that's for sure.
Playing without a big centre half doesn't help..
Big changes needed next season.

As a fan group we are at a crossroads.

We were Warnock'd today. If that's what we want then go and get great athletes but poor footballers, it will take you into the top 10, probably lose in the playoff and if you do make it totally unprepared for your relegation season in the premier league.

Although i think SM was a lazy decision by a lazy board, we tried to play today but were simply over matched physically. The antics and ref are all what we witnessed during the Warnock years. I applaud what SM was trying to do, we just don't have those players.

Hugil and Uche are too immobile to create movement, Davies was better when he stayed out wide and caused issues and Rubin makes the game look too easy. Doyle was lost though and SM was slow to hook him. Ref's haven't got a clue anymore with Target men, so there is little point in playing them. I wouldn't start Hugil or Uche for the remaining games, that is experimenting.

That looked like two teams in a relegation battle. Would never of guessed Luton were 4th. Waited way too long to make changes again.

Another flat performance, yes we passed it around well but no cutting edge in the team.
We need a massive influx of quality this summer to be competitive next season.
Our end to the season and the flat performances will not help season ticket sales.
Unfortunately many no shows again in the Ninian and talk of many sat around me that this is their last season.
Tan does not come here, dalman does not come here "why should i bother"

Re: MY VIEW: IT FELT LIKE PRE-SEASON FRIENDLY BY CARDIFF FOR

Mon Apr 18, 2022 5:42 pm

Exactly as I saw it Annis we looked like a team just going through the motions with a few exceptions, Doyle, Wintle and Drameh worked their socks off but others like Will Vaulks did his best to slow the game down, pass the ball backwards and generally give the ball away so cheaply I thought it was actually Marlon Pack after a shave and a hair cut.

I cannot wait for this season to be over as in my near 60 years of watching the City this is the FIRST time where we have lost 12 home games in season. If that doesn't tell you things are a long way off where we need to be what does?, in my opinion the first thing that needs to happen is close down this utterly useless Transfer Committee God alone help SM next season if decisions on who we sign are left to this shower again.

For the players out of contract and looking for a new one well losing ALL four local derby matches and 12 home games are clear reasons they need to be moved on.

It's new broom time and this summer boy is there some shite to sweep up.

We’ve tried 4 at the back but this seems to reduce (even more) our ability to create chances. Drameh and Bagan have been our best attacking players but can’t attack very often under this system. It was a poor watch today, but when I think back to what it was like before McCarthy left it is a considerable improvement!

I'm with you that it felt very much 'end of season' but I thought Steve Morison was right in his post-match assessment that only profligate finishing prevented a Bluebird win against a Luton team that are chasing promotion

They looked no better than us (as has been the case of several of the so called promotion chasers this season) for much of the game

I'm also mindful that had we not had McCarthy in charge at the start of the season, we may not actually a thousand miles off the play-offs right now

Next season is starting to excite me with a few strategic additions :ayatollah:
