Penalties

Sat Apr 16, 2022 6:22 am

I think I'm right in saying that we are just five games away from going through a whole season without being awarded a penalty. Has that ever happened to us before?

I can't even remember many penalty shouts so it's not as if we can blame the referees for having an agenda against us (although I read somewhere that Swansea have also not had one this season either).

Are we unlucky? Are we not getting players into the penalty area enough? Are defenders fouling less in the box? Do English refs hate us?

I certainly can't remember a season with no penalties for us.

Gosh you may be right I certainly can’t think of one We had a stonewall penalty against Morrison in a home game not given but can’t think of many claims at all

Really !!?

There must have been 6/7 at home with Flint/Morrison/ McGuinness having their shirts pulled off their backs at corners/free kicks. I’m sorry, no penalties in a season is way beyond coincidence/chance.

I seem to remember a few years ago we went 60 games without one. Given the current nonsense with the handball rule its incredible we haven't had one.

You get penalties generally from dribbles or speedsters, we haven't any, we barely get crosses in for handballs.

And the Jacks toss around so much in there defensive third and pass their way into space they don't get much contact either.

Refs have forgot how to manage target men. Its literally a 50/50 flip of a coin with every decision but you rarely get anything in the box either way.

This is not a Welsh thing, its a two poor teams thing.

Not sure we got one in our last Premier League season, I know we certainly had a few stonewall shouts turned down.

Jack Bastards had a penalty today so does that mean we are now the only team in the Championship who have not been awarded a penalty this season?

Apart from the odd shirt pull at corners we’ve never looked like getting one because nobody dribbles into the box.
We did though have a stonewall one turned down at Millwall by that clown Steve Martin.

We should have had five plus from corners where players just grab Morrison and Flint around the neck and throw them to the floor before the ball arrives in the box, but apparently that's fine these days?
