MY VIEW:ONCE AGAIN CITY'S DEFENCE WAS ALL OVER THE PLACE & C

Fri Apr 15, 2022 3:53 pm

MY VIEW / OPINION:

ONCE AGAIN CITY'S DEFENCE WAS ALL OVER THE PLACE & CONCEDED VERY EARLY & WERE OUTPLAYED THE FIRST-HALF.

Yes City came alive the second-half. but way to late.

Cardiff need to sort out this sloppy defence for next season, one of City's biggest let downs and continues to be.

Oliver Denham came in for his first Championship start :bluebird:

FIRST-HALF: Absolutely awful 30mins.
Less said about the first 30 minutes for Cardiff the better, I'd suggest.

Hull clearly see a weakness on our right side …. Began and Denham seem very vulnerable …. So they were pumping the ball to the quick Potter ….. who was getting behind our defenders.

SECOND-HALF: A much improved half, but it was that bad the first-half , it had to improve. Way to late.

HULL CITY 2 CARDIFF CITY 1
H-T 2-0
Crowd 15,685
Away Support Just over 600 fans :bluebird: :bluebird:

Cardiff City: Phillips; Denham, Flint, McGuinness; Drameh, Vaulks, Wintle; Davies, Ikpeazu, Harris.

Subs: Luthra, Nelson, Doughty, Ng, Doyle, Colwill, Hugill.

GOAL! Hull City 1-0 Cardiff City (Allahyar 9)

Goal for Hull. Huge mistake from McGuinness. Sells Phillips short with a poor backpass and Allahyar intercepts and rounds Phillips before slotting into an empty net.

Not the ideal start. Another early goal and Cardiff have to come from behind again.

GOAL! Hull City 2-0 Cardiff City (Coyle 11)
Goal. Coyle slotted home from the edge of the area. Disastrous start.

A ball from Lewis-Potter into the box is not dealt with. McGuinness mis-hits the clearance and Drameh can't control it. Regan Slater picks it up, slides the pass to Coyle and he buries it expertly into the corner, first time, with his left foor.

Oliver Denham was booked for a heavy challenge in a corner.

H-T 2-0

46th min: Uche Ikpeazu and Mark McGuinness off, Tommy Doyle and Rubin Colwill came on.

GOAL! Hull City 2-1 Cardiff City (Flint 81) :bluebird: :bluebird:
Goal! City have one back. Aden Flint with the header.

Tommy Doyle with an inch-perfect cross and Flint does well to muscle his way through a sea of Hull shirts before heading into the net. :bluebird: :bluebird:

Back to 5 at the back. After last week playing 4 and doing well. Dropping all the players who played well vs Reading.

Is he learning? More questions than answers yet again.

He can prove he is by starting with a 4231 vs Luton.

I didn't watch it but monitored the updates. It seems we still have this issue of conceding early and only stepping up the required intensity after a half-time talk when we should be starting games like that.

A manager who doesn't know what he is doing or as we like to say learning on the job or experimenting for next season.....Its depends on your view.

learnt loads from that performance.

Hopefully Ikpeazu will not be signed next year
Denham looks comfortable on the ball so if Morison continues with 3 at the back at least one of them can show some composure
we always look better in a back 4
The world doesn't stop without a target man, for about 30 mins I thought we were in 2022, playing like a modern team

Bit of same old story how many times is this we've lost game in 1st half? But overall take out the stupid defending we could have and should have won this game after 2and half performance. ....

Despite the goal flint has to go. Gave the ball away everything he played forward. Vaults despite goal last week slows play down. Thought Phillips looked poor on crosses and uncomfortable with the ball at his feet. I'd say lots of things for morison to learn but will he.?

Difficult to win games every time if only play for 45 minutes.
Why go back to a back 3 and with 3 different CBs???
Too many changes.
Colwill and Doyle had to start surely?
Flint, Harris, Phillips, McGuinness, and obviously Vaulks not good enough at this level.
Lost to an average team which was so avoidable.

We will never win games with Harris in the team

For what its worth I think were getting an idea who the Gaffa will keep going forward. Defence far too ponderous today and played too slow.

All about next season. Stop panicking, its experimental till end of season.

Anybody who wants him sacked should have a word with yourself in the mirror. These are more or less pre season games now to experiment a little.

A load of rubbish. If I pay my money I expect a minimum of being competitve.

'All about next season' eh? Your not wrong, because if you believe our team will ve stronger than that which we put out in the 1st half, then it is your Sir, with respect, that needs to have a 'word in the mirror'

We are being shown a glimpse of next year under the current ownership. I hope and pray that the takeover talk has substance, otherwise this year will be a superb season compared to 2022/23.

I believe Morisons permanent appointment was a lazy decision by a lazy board but you can see today was giving players a chance to make a stake. Sometimes they pay off sometimes they don't.

I hope today was glimpses of next season because i liked the way we played in the second half

In fairness I did say 1st half. But Morison saw proof that lacj of experience and inadequate kids gets you one thing, and thats relagated. Our board might want to excitedly put their name to this sort of squad, but thankfully Morison has got common sense, changed it to bring on a bit of experience. He knows full well our 1st half side will get absolutely slaughtered next year....

.... but hey! Their cheap!

Tbf Jimmy, lots on here were saying that now is the time to experiment with systems and different players and he seems to be doing that.

Was he? I thought he experimented last week and we improved. Today he returned to type.

After half time we improved when we went back to last week's system and personnel.

Colwill has to play. Build a team around him.

Flint and Vaulks aren't really doing well enough to deserve a new deal. Why play them?!

So you expect this team to be the same next season? You must have bugged morisons fone to get inside knowledge of players being signed In the summer :o ...Sorry you base everything you say on the worse parts of performances in every game.. .yes very poor 1st half as normal but again 2and half could and should have won... and what experience came on are you talking about ? Colwill, daughty, doyle ....vastly experienced players in your eyes are they? Average age 22 if that !!! What he did was change way we played nothing to do with putting experience players on field at halftime was it?

Once again, you answer your own question and fail to read my post.

Yes, I base this on the 1st half. Yes, Doughty, Doyle, have played at this level or higher before and have shown a bit of quality. Colwill, as much as I dont rate him as highly as others, at least has had international experience.

And no, I dont think next yeats team will be like our 1st half team, itll be worse.

Eith respect, look into your crysyal ball then same as me, i think it is folly to think we might spend ANY money, let alone bring in either quality or experience.

2nd half was better because we brought on players with a nous and a bit of experience. You think theyll be here next year?

Fair play morisons brought consistency to the team. We've got a side that hardly ever scores in the first half and virtually never plays more than 45 minutes

The experience you quote for these players is exactly the same players you decry club for using young cheap players which they are... it wasnt their experience that made difference it was their playing ability.... .. you cant have it both ways just to suit your view..... will they be here next season honest answer dont know and wont guess either ...but you know for fact they wont be here because you obviously use crystal ball to guess what will happen next season and you also know we wont spend any money ? club will obviously use buttons to pay for replacing the 7 or 8 players leaving next season and any loanees we'll get..... myself will wait until start season because I always look forward to following season with optimism because if haven't got that what's point of supporting club?... and its far better than having same pessimistic viewpoint week in week out especially before know what squad is....

If say he did, yes.
Two central midfielders with 2 number 10s behind Uche.
New centre back.

So you have a different opinion to me. Is yours better?

You say I use the proverbial 'crystal ball' .... I could say the same about you and ideas that we are going to spend money. Do you know that for a fact? Do you have a hotline to this 'transfer committee'?

Ill just let you dream about next season being great, because me? I worry about next season, and it hurts to see our club treated/run the way it is.

I usually worry / get excited around late July after our signings & outgoings have been sorted. Surely that’ll give us a better idea mate.

I never once mentioned or had opinion on what we will spend on players next season but expect it to be low budget but there again same for majority of clubs......and you know the team will be worse than this season and we wont spend anything to bring in players even though we need around 8 players at least to bring squad upto required numbers how do you know that? ( read the the tea leaves maybe). ...and I said was an optimist nothing about it being a great season so not a dreamer as you say a very big difference ... also I have not expressed any opinion about what will happen next season not like yourself.... as for worrying about next season I'll wait until I know what squad is before I even think about that I'll leave you to worry about something that as not happened yet and may not do so..
you say I dont read what you put but equally you are as guilty for doing same... :old:

Give you one reason for being optimistic ? "I dont do pessimism"
Huddersfield finished 20th their fans didn't have any reason to suggest this season be any different but they were wrong because football is far from predictable as we know. .

I'd be happy with top 10 position next season. Perhaps being in the pack for the play off positions as well be nice. SM will give us that if he gets a another productive window.

However, my stance is the same and the promised land of premiership football is a hard watch getting beat every week.

Not bothered either way if we don't go up. Destroys your club and never makes your financialy better off . Just fills the troughs for the greedy.......
