Cardiff City boss Steve Morison has been named Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month for March.
The news comes as a boost for the beleaguered Bluebirds boss who has come under fire after the derby day thrashing at the hands of Swansea City.
March, however, was a good month for the Bluebirds under Morison, with the club earning an impressive tally of 10 points from four games. Cardiff were also unbeaten during that time.
There were wins over Derby County, QPR and Stoke City, along with what was admittedly a rather forgettable 0-0 draw with Preston. It's a run that has deservedly won plenty of plaudits, and has subsequently delivered Morison his first managerial award.
It's perhaps a small pick-me-up for the club following Saturday's derby humiliation, although there are still plenty of points up for grabs between now and the end of the season. Cardiff continue their Championship campaign with a trip to Reading this weekend, and will no doubt look to recapture some of the momentum from last month.
Commenting on his award, Morison said: “It’s a good achievement, we had a really good month, and it shows that all the hard work we’ve put in has been recognised. We’ve come a long way from when we first took over and this is a realisation of the good work that we’ve done as a group, and as a staff; the Swansea game was a big blow around the place, but this helps to pick us back up.
“Our key message is that we’ve come a long way as a group and need to keep that work going. We’ve got seven games between now and the end of the season and we want to do the best that we can to finish as positively as we can.”
