Cardiff's Leahy: You get judged on goals and assists and I'm producing
Jack Leahy has said he is doing all that is asked of him to get heads turning as he aims to finish the season strongly for Darren Purse's under-23s.
Leahy was the star of the show, from an attacking perspective, during Cardiff's 2-0 win over Barnsley on Tuesday, which you can read more about here. He scored a sublime opener, drilling low into the bottom corner from 20 yards, before putting the ball on a plate for James Collins, who slotted home to wrap up the win.
And he is just catching the eye a little now as we start to look at the next crop of youngsters coming through who could potentially challenge the first team. He now has three goals for the under-23s, only Kieron Evans, James Crole and Chanka Zimba have more, and looks like he is an important player for the young Bluebirds.
"It was good game from the team," Leahy said after the match. "The first half wasn’t as good as the second, personally it wasn’t my best performance but there were two moments of quality with the goal and the assist, so I'm happy with the win, and we'll see what happens in the next few games.
"As an attacking player, you're rated on goals and assists and recently I've been doing that. We haven't got many games left, it's good just to finish as high as possible. I'm happy for the win and let's see what happens in the next few games."

This kid looks good, watch the U23s whenever I can and he seems like he could force his way in next season. Obviously depends on if we want to play with wingers or not but this kid seems to have really good technique which is hard to find these days. Not sure I’d chuck him in the squad now, definitely have him on there over some of the deadwood that will be going

I agree mate....Leahy seems a good prospect. Another good young winger with pace to burn and an eye for goal is Morgan Wigley. He's mainly with our U18s but has been on the bench for a few U23 games. Looking forward to watching their progress.
