NATHAN JONES WOULD DIE TO BE THE CITY MANAGER

Wed Apr 06, 2022 7:39 pm

How long will the club continue to ignore Welsh Man Nathan Jones, he turned up rocks at Luton with one of the lowest budgets in the championship, he also plays a great style of football and beat the jacks on their own patch with passion, he's young and he's a City fan.

Nathan Jones, you've been gone too long

Is there a job going? :?

"Is there a job going?

In every walk of life, there's a job going if a better appointment is out there!!! It's not always about waiting for a run of bad results.

Ah, that explains it...not!

All about opinion but there was an opportunity for him to be appointed when Mick McCarthy left, so why wasn't he?

I'm told he was approached and wanted to see the season out at Luton which may have been the potential Championship summer appointment that was mentioned at the time?

If so, hardly a sign of being prepared to (quote) 'die' to be the City manager, is it? Not Cardiff City anyway...

My big question is what has Nathan Jones actually done to warrant all the attention?

Taken Luton to the Premier League? Nope!

Did a sterling job at Stoke? Nope!

Or simply being a Cardiff lad? Ah, now there's a thought... ;)

Not knocking him for what he's done on a budget at Luton only but we have been constantly linked with 'locals' for years but they rarely, if ever, occur

Tony Pulis was one and there were others

The simple truth is that Steve Morison will be here next season and currently deserves to be, so the original question is a pretty mute one :thumbright:

OMG - The editor of the above comments must be Sven Morrison.

Editor? :? Do you mean poster? :?

Either way, it's nope, I'm just stating a fact... ;)

You started a thread about a non-event and then avoided the points raised and questions asked...

Over to you to respond and I'd also like to know what your opinion (of Steve Morison) would have been, if we had won or avoided defeat? :?

I'm confident not the same but hey ho, such is the over emphasis some put on that two-game season...

Sven Morison - When you say you are just stating facts, in your post you state Nathan was approached for the city job!

"I'm told he was approached and wanted to see the season out at Luton which may have been the potential Championship summer appointment that was mentioned at the time?"

If so, hardly a sign of being prepared to (quote) 'die' to be the City manager, is it?

Impossible to have a fair debate with pathological liar. I challenge you to put a link backing your city approach claim.

He didn't do too good at Stoke when he went there ,sometimes a club just fits and Luton seem to be that club for him .

Yep plenty of examples of that over the years.

Eddie Howe at Burnley being an obvious one.

Moyes at Sunderland and Man Utd, the ex- Barnsley manager at WBA this season, etc.

Nathan Jones is currently doing extremely well at Luton but Stoke fans were desperate to see the back of him !!

Just because he’s a Cardiff boy doesn’t make him any better than Morison.

Not sure he would wanna come to this club with fans calling for his head after 5 mins either.

Come back when you can be inoffensive in your tone, fella...

I know what some of us were told from an informed source and if you think any approach (to him or others) was telegraphed, you are naïve

I am, as always, open to hear how you think or know different but I think our paths have crossed before; just not in your current name (the crass and immature name-calling in particular is familiar) ;)

Wez, I agree. He's done okay twice at Luton, one of which was in the Championship this season but he was disappointing at Stoke

But I'm not knocking him as a man or a manager and I wouldn't be averse to having him here at some point in the future

But Steve Morison (somehow I'm being knocked for voicing my current support?) is the manager and will remain so for the start of next season, so I will get behind him until he deserves not to be :thumbright:

Chris,

SM deserves his chance and it’s quite possible he will only have 14 players in his squad to start with! Lots of scope for him to get who he wants :ayatollah:

Great to hear from you, Karl... :ayatollah:

Yes, I agree; and Manager of the Month for March suggests something has gone right since his smart January signings

I've stated elsewhere that this summer is a great opportunity to completely reshape a lopsided and overly expensive (for the return provided) squad and if January's business is an indicator, I think we have a manager who knows who/what he wants

Clearly lessons to be learned but for me, he has taken to this management malarky quite well; seemingly more than the so-called 'experienced' veteran he replaced... ;)

With hindsight McArthy should never have had a second season and Cooper should have been approached pre season.

I wouldn't argue with that; but given it didn't, I'm currently happy with Steve Morison :thumbright:

If he was doing this at another club, we'd be shouting 'go get him' for his Wales links and out of the usual irony... ;)

Morison is doing a great job. So is Nathan Jones at Luton, for the second time. However it did not go too well at Stoke. Would we get Stoke Nathan Jones or Luton Nathan Jones? Risky when the incumbent Morison is doing fine.
