Smithies attracting Nottingham forest interest

Alex Smithies is among those who could be facing a Cardiff exit this summer.

Smithies is one of 10 senior stars out of contract at the end of the season, and despite being a first team regular under Morison this season, it seems he could yet be moved on at the end of this current deal. The goalkeeper is believed to be one of the higher earners at the club, and his wages may well exceed the new financial structure that's poised to be introduced this summer.

Indeed, out of all the players set to see their deals run out this summer, Joe Ralls is currently the most likely to agree terms. Smithies is understood to have a number of admirers, including Championship rivals Nottingham Forest, who are flying under former Swansea City boss Steve Cooper.

No chance Coopers no fool, he'll have seen his stats, why would he be looking to sign one of the poorest shot stoppers in the league? Agents at work I would imagine, we'll see this with most of the players whose contracts are up in the coming months, profile raising.
