I'm not one to have a pop at our players but been bugging me since the Huddersfield game where we played 96 ish minutes and he didn't make one save in the 2-1 defeat. Anyone else feel smithies has gone down hill. Not blaming him completely because defence don't help and know he's capable of world class saves but they seem few and far between. I worry with any shot on target. His distribution is poor and at 2-0 down yesterday he was in no rush to take goal kicks. I know he's leaving soon so why start him. No wonder Phillips is pissed off.
Rant over lol

Yes. Drop him. Useless.

Really?
What did he do wrong yesterday? Are you saying he vould have saved some of their goals?

I'm saying he should have done better. Yes.

Which goal in particular or all?

Not blaming him for all the goals yesterday but I feel his save to shot ratio is pretty poor, looks dodgy on corners and doesn't fill me with confidence like he used too. Wonder if our defenders feel the same?

He is a top keeper, had no chance for the four goals. I think he's the highest paid player at the club, not worthy of that accolade.

Agree. Top keeper at this level. No chance yesterday. Far too big a wage to keep on our books.

I do think he bears some responsibility for the first goal, yes.
He threw a ball out to Bagan at speed when Bagan had no options and a no help.
Even in those early stages we were being undone by the Jacks and a level head was needed. They seemed quicker and sharper. He should have taken his time and not thrown the ball out to someone already being put under pressure by the Jacks.
The way the Jacks play, in contrast to us, means when they take an early lead they can control the game. It was a huge mistake.
He has been 'ok' for us but he's not worth keeping for the money he is supposedly on.

I was going to post the same look at the stats below, he has the lowest save percentage in the league according to these stats at 58%. The only teams with less saves are Boro, Fulham and WBA but they all have better save percentages, being near the bottom of the league the keepers normally have much more saves to make so that figure should also be higher.
https://fbref.com/en/comps/10/keepers/C ... ship-Stats Stats are stats, he'll have no chance of a new contract based on those!
Looking at the goals later on quest it looked like he was no where near any of them but why?. Is his positioning wrong, looking at the first and the header I think he's scared of getting beat on his near post, so leaving the whole goal open, I'm obviously no expert and he might have just been unlucky, but over the season his stats are very poor.
Four shots on target four goals is not a good stat, I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see Phillips start at Fulham.

Call me old fashioned but I like my keeper to be a bit of a headcase. Screaming, moaning, organising his defence. Don't hear much from Smithies, is he too nice?!

I do too, it helps the whole defence and gives them confidence, I'm not sure why he's dropped form so much but his stats are terrible.

Thanks for the link, didn't realise they were that bad but does confirm what I thought

Way below previous seasons form for sure.

Hardest position to get selected in.
Bring in a young, hungry youth international keeper on loan next season, and spend Smithies £30k a week on players elsewhere
