Inquest please and a club and owner statement

Sat Apr 02, 2022 8:30 pm

.... I cannot stay off this board after one of the most humiliating results in my almost 50 years of following the club.

It's a one off post, to which I won't reply, but there's things that need to be said. Loads of other threads so feel free to add this to the plethora covering the same subject.

I was worried yesterday when Morison took the position of Dave Jones, Neil Harris and Mick McCarthy and used the phrase 'it's just another game, another 3 points'. Following the game, his comment?

"my role was to keep the team up, and NOT WIN CERTAIN GAMES".

This ranks with Blackpool at Wembley, Wolves at home with the 2 missed penalties, but this time? It was home, it was Swansea, it was a mauling, a first was set, and were not gonna be shown on the records as achieving it.

There needs to be an inquest, an official statement from the club on how this game was approached and how it will be approached in the future. Only by doing this will the club show it understands the emotions of a Cardiff City fan in a South Wales derby.

Secondly, we need a statement from the top. Not Dalman, he'll string any old yarn. Tan was not at fault for this defeat, but when there is a catastrophe of this magnitude in any business or occupation that has the potential to ruin a customer base for a long time, then the top man needs to show his/her face.

It has been said by numerous posters. Winning every other match this season will not go anywhere near to repairing the damage this result will cause.

I'll stay clear of comments regarding how next year is going to look, but today was one step too far for me.

I'll await the comments about how this actually isn't a catastrophe and how it's a Tan bashing statement from those who won't read my post and who will now suddenly think that today wasn't that bad to back up their Barclay bashing.

It was a derby game lost 4 nil! So we must have inquest and statement from owner why?
Yes embarrassing but its football other derbys between clubs have had similar defeats didn't one Manchester team lose 6 nil to other? What would a statement by tan prove or do ? do other than have every other person on this board slag off what he says and that's a fact!!! This result is down to morison and the team bad tactics from him and lack lustre performance from team...now where have we heared that before? 50yrs supporting city this is a bad result same as the many others I've witnessed in that time....its gone so move on to next game if people want to dwell on this result for next 100 yrs that's upto them.... me well I'm annoyed at what went on today but like said seen it all before so wont lose sleep over it thats for sure... leave that to others.

We dont but this is a lose lose situation for the board... it was a really awful pathetic performance but seen many in my time this result is simply down to players and manager just as they got praised for recent results ..... what kind statement do fans want? Next season we will spend 50million we want to sign bale Ramsey ect ect .... next season is long way off at moment and as we know theres a lot of player movement to be done for players coming and going... the start of next season with what squad we have acquired will see what are intentions are?

OUR SUPPOSED RIVALS Bristol City & Swansea did the double over us this season. Both out played & out fought us in the pitch.

Their is NO way Our club is moving forward and we have spent most of this season just above relegation

Perhaps Vinny should get involved in the tactics for next seasons derby as our current managers were bloody useless

You can bugger off about move on.

I want those players to know that we are lived and that we think they are a bunch of schoolgirls. Perhaps we should make them wear blouses against Reading.

Better still make them do a group apology not a spokesman and they pay full cost for fans to go to reading ......as I said leave it to others to dwell on today... undoubtedly be back to cursing team on Saturday at some point... just the joys of being a football supporter all ups and downs no in between...

I don't want their money. I'll pay my own way. All I'm asked is that they are replaced by our youngsters because at least they will give it a go.

Tbh not sure putting in youngsters would do anything if morison makes same mistake he made today in leaving out colwill and his overall tactics.. but agree about not resigning most if not all the out of contract players we need a fresh start let's just hope morison is as good with summer window as he appeared to be in January's. And he's learned enough to be flexible and change things if nessasary.

If there was one positive out of today, it was not to waste any more money on Flint, Ralls and Smithies. They can join Bacuna and Pack and leave now.

Spot on Ian.

Some fans just don’t get hurt by this and seem to let it just go over their heads.

Well it hurts beyond of how we have become.

What’s any of this going to achieve? A statement on how we’ll approach future games is pointless as between now and next season both clubs could sign 15 new players between them and let go another 15. You can’t plan for a game in a future season.

How’s a statement from Tan going to help? Either he says “the loss is unacceptable and we’re looking for a replacement for Morison” or he says “despite the loss the manager still has my support and backing”. Would either statement actually satisfy you?

You’re right about the statement, it’s pointless whatever they say.

What the players and Morrison have to understand is how much this hurts. I get the “it’s another 3 points” argument when we’re chasing promotion or staving off relegation but this was the last big game of the season for both teams so we should have been throwing the kitchen sink at it.

Yet again The Jacks made this a more important game than us and that shows a lack of understanding by the manager and in particular the players.

That said, I don’t agree that this make Morison a crap manager and should go. McCarthy won the derby at their place, that doesn’t make him a good manager !!

Morison must learn from that but stick by his principles and rebuild. Time to mould his team to allow a place for Colwill and then get new players in to fit that set-up.

None of the players out of contract should be kept on in my opinion. Yesterday it fell to Flint and Ralls to lead a young team in a huge game. Both were truly awful from a playing perspective but, even worse, actually hiding when it came to helping out their young team.

Hopefully people will now realise that all these players coming to the end of their contracts is a massive opportunity not a disaster.

This is not a time for sound bites or statements, this is a time for action starting at Reading and the players better get themselves up for that or the abuse flying about right now will really ramp up.

Let’s see what these kids have to offer. If they perform great, if they can’t then that’s another lesson learnt ready for next season.

I very rarely reply to a Barclay post, but i think indirectly he is correct. Not the statement about the game but what is the plan.

My Mrs who has no interest in football or CCFC asked me "whats the problem then" and i said its a lazy unprofessional business, that as a "normal" business even within the madhouse of football would collapse through neglect.

Its the owners hobby and as with nearly all our hobbies they fade and the photography, fishing, cycling (et cetera) gear ends up in the back of the shed with promises of restarting it as soon as the weather improve or something else changes.

There is no leadership at all, as a not ITK fan i have no idea who even calls the day to day shots, is it left to SM ?

SM appointment smacks of convenience with little effort or thought. We promoted an in house junior coach, he did a better job than the guy who was trying to get sacked , so we offered him an extension, he brought in a few fresh faces and stopped us from our trajectory of relegation so we extended him another year. How much effort was spent seeing if there are any more qualified candidates out there, its still a decent job FFS. We took the lazy easy option.

So for once i am with Barclay we need some sort of communication.

Vincent Tan has shown direction by capping the wages.

From that we can work out where we are going and that being we will only attract lower quality players. For me that means we will have a team that will be fighting another relegation battle. Some will disagree with me and point to teams lie Luton. i hope they are right but I just can't see it happening.

As for Tans overall commitment to us well he has a lot of businesses and as long as we look after ourselves he will be content with that. Looking after ourselves means staying in the Championship.
