Don't remember Jones saying anything about Hudson's own goal against Leicester in the home play off semi -final.

Not as bad as Matthews certainly but a ridiculous header nonetheless.

I wish people would stop defending Matthews, what he did was idiotic. I don’t care how old he is, he was under no pressure at all and shouldn’t have done what he did. He could have actually let the ball go over his head, run onto it and start an attack but instead he calmly headed the ball into his own net. I’d expect Jones to have a dig at anyone who made a mistake like that particularly at 0-0 in a game that had that scoreline written all over it. Not to mention he then messed up for the 2nd goal and generally had a stinker.

Imagine the reaction if Hudson had lost the man for the 2nd goal and scored that own goal, he’d be boo’d between now and the end of the season whereas Matthews has people sticking up for him. This is one of the biggest problems with our fans, it’s one rule for some and another for others.

Got to agree. All we've had for the last few days is Hudson this and Hudson that - Matthews cost us on Saturday but he's only a lad so lets paint over it.

Sorry, but if he's old enough to play then he's old enough to take the flak. Having seen several interviews, I don't think DJ has been that harsh on him. He gave him as much as the others who failed to turn up, difference being Matthews was named(as was Geypes and Hudson), whereas the rest weren't, but it was plain who he was talking about.

Exactly some peoples attitudes to certain members of our team are shocking. There were worse players than Hudson on Saturday but they are more popular with fans so they don’t get mentioned. I don’t think he’s a great player by any means but he is a lot better than most people make him out to be.

The only player I will agree with the boo boys on is Gavin Rae who has looked nothing short of abysmal every time he’s got onto the pitch this season

I dont think they are really the same to be honest and remember Matthews was at fault for both goals and only on for 45mins.
I think people are missing the most obvious point which is DJ was ASKED by a reporter to comment on Matthews so what can he say? he blames Matthews as it was his fault but ALSO blamed the midfield for not cutting it out before that and ALSO the other more experienced players (hudson Gypes but not named) for not giving him a shout.

Personally, I wasn't so much amazed at the way that Jones aimed the criticism at Matthews, but the way he was falling into his olfd failings of singling players out for criticism. As has been pointed out, I bet he won't be doing that with Hudson.

I did think that Matthews, to a certain extent, got away with a similar header before his OG and I'm sure the commentator seemed to hint that it was a cocky back header. To try that sort of thing again so soon after in the same game could have been asking for trouble

Let's park this thread for the time being and bring back out when Hudson next has a schocker and see if there is any consistancy in Jones from critcising a 17 year old's display in public to commenting on a player (hudson) who is club captain and on c.13k a week. ;)

DJ can't criticise Hudson. It would be like admitting he was wrong....and he doesn't do that, does he??

Hudson (and more so Gyepes) were at fault for the second goal more than Matthews, who at least tried to get back. The centre backs just stood and watched :x

Is Riggott ready to play yet?? He surely can't be far away if he impressed enough to get a contract, Can he?? :?

FFS the ball was headed straight at him from about 5 yards, nothing he could do about that. Completely different circumstance.

Hudson has made errors, but it amazes me how most people bring up the things which he couldn't do anything about !!

Like the play-off final, some have blamed him for the goals, which is ridiculous, yet the one bollock he did drop was completely ignored (and I'm not telling you what it was as I don't want to add ammo to the criticism)

Your post is symptomatic of many that criticise Hudson.

I'd say the vast majority who look to blame him for as much as possible are also the ones who don't like Jones.

Simple - Hudson was one of Jones biggest signings (and although I don't think Hudson is anywhere near as bad as many make out, even I struggle to justify a £1m fee for him), so lets show up how crap Jones is by pointing out how poor his big signing is.

Obviously ignoring the fact that Warnock, Curbishly, Peter Talyor, Dowie etc.. all had Hudson in their sides as well. They must know bugger all - well I suppose that could be the case with Dowie these days  - but he was doing quite well when he has Hudson.

Maybe I'm misreading it, but that does seem to be the case for many.

I'd be interested to know how many think Hudson is awful but Jones is a really good manager ?

Its not a problem and in fairness your comments have been pretty balanced.

I'm just interested as that seems to be common in many threads.
