New Stadium versus Old Stadium

Mon Sep 20, 2010 12:15 pm

We're now into our second season at the Cardiff City Stadium (clever name when you think about it) and I wondered what the general opinion was on the move. We know it was vital for the commercial future of the club but I know there are some who would like to have stayed 'across the road'

Question: How do you think the move to the new stadium has gone and do you still miss Ninian Park?? :ayatollah:

I'll always miss Ninian but so far this season we would have been locking valuable revenue outside of NP for each of our home league games as we could only get 18,500 home fans in and that's presuming we would even attract those sort of numbers without the new stadium. I also prefer have a few pints in the new concourse before the game than queuing outside that poxy portacabin at the back of the Bob Bank

A lot has been said about the atmosphere but I truly believe that is down to us as fans. Swansea, Leicester (both games), Bristol, etc, last season were as good as any at NP. So that would indicate it ain't the ground that is the problem :?

We sometimes only remember the good times at NP but there were plenty of games there when the atmosphere left a bit ot be desired to say the least.

The biggest issue re: atmosphere is the lack of standing and I tend to agree with those that say it should be allowed in some of the Blocks in the Ninian Stand at CCS. I know there are ligislative and safety issues but surely there is a way around it ?

Loved Ninian park but wouldn't want to go back.

I hate all these new stadiums. It appears it's the future, but I'm all for the old style grounds that are falling to pieces, with holes in the roof, segregation fences and where you piss into a hole in the ground.

There won't be much of that left soon though :(
