A forum for all things Cardiff City

At present we have 4 regional police forces within Wales - South Wales, Gwent, Dyfed Powys and North Wales.
I see that today the new Chief at Dyfed Powys Police Has called for an All Wales Police Force By 2030.
What are your thoughts on this ?
Personally, Having had direct experience of the regional Police forces NOT working/collaborating together to fight Crime, I am in Favour.
My personal experience living in Powys was about 6 years ago when I received a parking fine/summons through the post for my Car registration number at a time and place in Cardiff City Centre.
I knew and could prove that my car and myself were 100% here in Powys and not in Cardiff on that date and time, so my worry was (A) somebody was running around with a cloned registration plate committing all sorts of Crimes? (B) that I was not liable for the £60 fine as it was not me or my car.
Not having had much experience with the police before and not knowing how to go about challenging the fine and reporting a cloned Number/registration plate being used illegally (surely a serious crime), I went along to my local Main police station with the parking summons and the documented proof that my car was here and not in Cardiff on that date and time, and I was reporting a crime.
I went to the front desk of the police station and explained the situation to the desk officer in full. I was told these exact words " Sorry nothing to do with us, im afraid. You will have to contact South Wales Police". I WAS DUMBFOUNDED. I explained that Here I am reporting a crime to the police and your telling me to go away as its nothing to do with you that a crime has been committed. I was then told to leave the premises !! I was absolutely livid and left speechless.
The 4 police forces act like 4 separate clubs (A bit like Army Regiments) and therefore in my opinion stifle Crime across the 4 police areas and that could prolong investigations at the very least. That is the main reason (Talking and working as one body) I would be in favour of an All Wales Police Force.
Anyway, after numerous phone calls to South Wales Police and the parking fine issuing authority in Ponypridd (who at first did not want to listen or look at the traffic wardens written parking ticket from the files) but I insisted. it was found that the registration of the offending car was indeed the correct registration (my number plate) but it was a Black Vauxhall Zafira and my car is/was a silver Vauxhall Meriva, so I was correct and my plates were cloned and who knows what other crimes were being committed in my name?
The traffic fine issuing ticket office wrote to me to confirm that I did not owe any Money and I was released from the fine/summons. I then contacted South Wales Police again to confirm that there was a car traveling around with cloned Number Plates, which was very worrying for me. I did not receive any followup letter or communication from ANY police Force.
Has Anybody had similar experiences or what are your thoughts on this proposed merger of police forces?

The only realistic merger if any, I think that could work is Gwent and South Wales. Dyfed Powis is fairly unique in terms of is geography and population distribution, that I can't see how a merger would benefit either Force.

Evening all’
How do we know that you’re not the plate cloner criminal, and only reported this heinous crime to the Police as cover for your other nefarious activities.
That what any decent sleuth would be thinking.. hand yourself in man.
