ITS GOING TO BE BRUTAL: City Summer clear out will be epic!

Mon Mar 28, 2022 6:32 pm

UPDATED:

Cardiff have an alledged wage cap of £12k per week. Ralls is the only player been offered a new deal.

It is expected Smithies - Forest and Norwich after him - Brown, Morrison, Flint, Pack, Bacuna, Vaulks, Vassell, and Murphy will all be jettisoned.

Jury is out on Whyte - who is on and around the wage cap anyway.

Collins will be moved on too, together with Bowen and a few other youngsters who Morison doesn't think will make it.

It is going to be quite brutal.

What I've been told today , only one of the players out of contract has been offered a new contract and looks like he's accepting it and that's ralls.

The rest Morison, hasn't got in his future plans ,a few youngsters will be off loaded too ,a few will surprise everyone even know morison has worked with them for so long he doesn't rate them to make the step up consistently.we could also be looking for two keepers with Smithies going also there's been a lot on interest in Philips and he wants regular 1st team football hes not really happy here this sesson .don't shoot the messenger just passing on what I've heard .reminds me of the rebuilding of the squad when malky took over let's hope Morison brings the right players in .

Big decisions ahead and some might surprise the majority; but the good news is Steve Morison will be well backed in the loan market

Big transfer window coming up ,all the dead wood and high earners going, which in my opinion has been needed for a while. Hopefully Morison will bring in some young hungry gems that want to prove themselves.

If Smithies goes -as surely he must do as we cant afford wages and as one of the best keepers in the Championship he will be sought afte,-then surely Philips is guaranteed his place next season? Or doesn't Morrison rate him?

That’s what I thought, Smithies going is a certainty because of his wages and his more than capable replacement.

Hopefully he will be next year when he’s number 1. Hope Flint gets offered something.

Currently he's off but that could change by the end of the season, only ralls likely to stay .

Probably be better for Morison to start using players he's planning on keeping after the Swansea game get them feeling better and hopefully get their confidence up before next season

A good post and a breath of fresh air.

This comes as no surprise to me knowing what I have been hearing of Tan of the last few seasons. It all lines up well because we do need to get rid of the aging players on high wages. The only real one I feel we should keep is Ralls and that looks like its going to happen. Most of the others you mention I will be glad to see them moved out. Pack and Vaulks I will be sorry to see leave and also Morrison who has served us well. The rest good riddance I say.

Morison has impressed me this season. He has done well and is very honest. Only issue with him has been his public slagging off individual players. Slag the team off yes but don't bring it down to individual players themselves. That aside he has said things about the whole squad which was pleasing to hear and that being most of our academy players are not up to it. As we are on the youngsters I will not be surprised if Colwill is moved on. We could get a good price for him.

We rate Smithies, but if you look at the stats and save percentage, he looks pretty average or on paper one of the worst in the league, I think some how he has become overrated by the fans?

Take a look at the stats below.

Don’t know whether true Annis but I’m sure I heard someone say he as on £25k a week. If so, he really has to go.

It’s true Andrew approx that.

As long as we keep Mark Harris, Rubin Colwill, Issak Davies, Joel Bagan, Tom Sang, Kieron Brown amongst a few others that we seen like King in midfield. I think we will be alright if we can keep the main youngsters.

Kieran Brown the centre back? You’re serious?

Makes you wonder what the average wage of a decent championship player is, surely a £12k wage cap would get you a fairly decent squad (inclusive of loans, youngsters etc)?

Average wage was just shy of 20k a week a few years ago but I can see this being lower now due to the championship finance's after covid etc,a lot of footballers will have to take pay cuts in the summer.

It’s going to be a huge transfer window for most championship teams

Virtually every team apart from the ones with parachute payments are in a financial mess

There’s going to be a load of very good players available on free transfers let’s hope we are one of the teams that can take advantage of that

Wow, what a refreshing bit of 'news'. Yes, with purse strings in mind I would offer Joe to stay, I would have considered Will Vaulks and Flint to, but if its just Joe Ralls that's cool with me. I think 12k wage cap is lower than I would have hoped, but it seems like a lot of mathematical thought has gone into that figure, again if that's keeping our club clean and tidy and sustainable then all good. I would definitely move on Brown, Collins and hopefully Phillips can be given a big run as first choice, to keep him happy. I knew Warnock put Smithies on 30k a week, madness. No more recruitment madness (Madine, Vassell, Reid, Murphy etc) only Everton are worse than us for that! :banghead:

Postive vibes :ayatollah:
