Glatzel attracting interest who has scored already 20 goals this season

Former Cardiff striker Robert Glatzel's form with Hamburger SV is attracting interest from Bundesliga clubs.

The 28-year-old has scored 20 goals already this season and is aiming to hunt down second division record scorer Simon Terodde, who hit 24 last term. Glatzel still has eight games of the current campaign to go, and his stunning form has alerted teams in the German top flight.

Hamburger SV are in no need to sell, however, with the striker contracted until the summer of 2024. Reports in Germany state that it would take an offer of more than €3million for them to "think again".

It was always a case of "what if?" for the German when he was in south Wales, with him never really getting to grips with the rigours of Championship football. But there can be no denying his goalscoring attributes, with his strikes helping Hamburger SV to sixth place as things stand.

Personally, and I stated at the time, Robert Glatzel was not given a real chance at the CCS

His selection was too intermittent and therefore, he was unable to get the consistency required at this level; but goals apart, I liked what I saw and I am not surprised he is doing well elsewhere

Good luck to him... :ayatollah:

He wasn’t a like for like replacement for Moore.

He would flourish now with the ball on the floor a lot more. Glatzel looked best when Tomlin played as there was creativity to feet.

I hope we put a clause in his transfer that should Hamburg sell him on at a profit that we are entitled to a percentage of that fee. Knowing our transfer committee I bet that was not put in the contract.

He's not a patch on Hugill.

I think they are a different kind of striker. That being said I think Hugill suits our style of play more even under Morrison.

Agreed.

To me this was one of those "dodgy" Warnock signings.

I can't think of a striker less suited to Warnock's style yet he made him a key target and spent decent money on him.

However, if you put him in the current team I think he'd be playing and scoring regularly. He scored goals before he came to us, he's scoring goals since he left us and I think we can describe him as "one that got away".

Warnock paid a lot of money for players who would not suit his style When you think of the money he spend Yes we got money back of Bobbie D Reid , Murphy a waste of 10m plus and £5m on Glatzel Reqlly not sure what his thought process was with these players

Bundesliga 2 is league 1 standard at best, and with the exception of Bayern and 2 or 3 others the Bundesliga 1 is little more than Championship level. If you played Glatzel in a decent League 1 side he would score twenty goals here too.

Yet again this story is trying to make the owners look bad and make out that we let a good one get away, when in actual fact he is a player who has found his level.

No, I don't think this is a story to have a pop at the owners (for a change  ).

This was clearly a Warnock signing (he stated that himself) and was sold by McCarthy as one of his first actions as there was no way Glatzel would fit in with his "Warnock x 2" style.

You could see that Glatzel could finish in his time with us and could play when the ball was on the floor, what he couldn't do is challenge for the constant high balls that were pitched his way. He's certainly a better player than Collins who McCarthy replaced him with

He would easily suit Morison’s football

Spot on assessment. Glatzel is a decent striker and would have been excellent inmuch more suited to the system under Morison.
