Harris, Colwill, Denham, King and to a lesser extent Davies

Tue Mar 15, 2022 8:48 am

Harris, Colwill, Denham, King and to a lesser extent Davies and Bagan need to prove themselves game after game.

Of course we want to win, to not be accused of fielding a weakened team, keep the loanees on side.

For me Harris and Colwill are the two that I would very much like to test as established staters but am still not sure they can contribute enough week after week, but then they haven’t had the chance to prove it. Is Colwill best up front or in midfield?

I think with Colwill Morison has already identified where he needs to improve and a lot of it is physically.

He said they would be working on him in the summer and he would come back a better player and I think that's exactly right. He has the talent but just needs to be a bit stronger on the ball and sharper around the pitch. If he can solve that he's got very chance of being a key player for us next season.

Davies is another one who is going to need to strengthen his upper body. The Preston game demonstrated perfectly that he can get bullied off the ball.

None of this is anything to worry about with young players, they all go through it. Look at the physical change in Steven Gerrard between 19 to 22, it was huge and made him the powerful player he ended up being. However, these youngsters do need to do the hard work now if they are going to make it in the Championship or above.

Answer me a question: Why are you using multiple names, including posting 'word for word' on the other site under the name 'BlueAway'? :?

You do seem to be another attention seeker, yet bizarrely happy to' hide' at the same time when you can only realkly ever umrun away frim yourself..

And (quote you from the Barclay1 thread where you bitched about 'people like us' being 'bullied'): "I won't be got rid of so easily. I'm here to stay..."

Yes, but as who...?!?! ;)

Harris yes as he's what 23/24 now he should really be pushing into the side. Davis and Bagan have already gone a long way to prove that they can perform fairly consistently and play an important role next year. The other 3 have quality but are still developing and need time. They shouldn't be forced in.

If anyone is plagiarising it has to be Ninian. No way is that written by him.

I think Colwill is best up front.
In terms of all the youngsters i mean they are constantly learning everyday and every time they are playing. I would like to see Mark Harris play more but I guess we got a great starting line-up with Davies and Hugill up front. Overall we have a fantastic team with incredible youngsters playing for us. And I have full confidence in them and for our team going forwards.

I would say every time I have seen Harris play well is when he is brought on as a sub, some players are like that with Solskjaer being the most famous of course but whether he would be happy with that role only he knows.
Colwill is skilful but like others have said needs more physicality, he has the makings of being a superb player but he seems to lack any form of aggression to his play which he needs to have to take him to the next level.
Davies will be good for us, I like him but not sure if he will always just be a Championship player and that will be his limit (similar to Gayle at Newcastle) or more, when he strengthens up I guess we will see. And I dont mean that in a bad way about "only" being a Championship player either it's still a very high standard.
King and Denham look promising, I haven't seen enough of them yet but from what I have seen they could well be pushing for more regular games next season and wouldn't look out of place.
All in all, that concludes my expert opinions haha. One thing is for certain though we do have some talent coming through and add in to the mix Zimba, Ashford, Semenyo etc too it's looking like we are in a good position to push on if Morison can get a few more experienced heads in like he wants.

That’s a huge change to what you have said before Sam.

What’s changed?
