Not even getting game time now at Blackburn. I hope Wolves are pleased with giving him a better quality loan!!!!

He'd had definitely gone off the boil when he ended his spell with us.

For me it this obsession with wingback at the moment. I thought Wolves wanted us to use him as a wingback, old school Mick really played him as a wide forward where he had his best spell.

Morison came in, played him as a wingback, but its pretty defensive compared to those teams who play it well, where it is far more offensive.

SM plays almost a defensive flat back 5 when not in possession which is why we nearly always looked over matched in the midfeild and when we do win the ball back there a so few option for the midfield 3 (whoever is in)

I'd love to try a few things ,first thing would be drop to a back 4 with Wintle as the sitter. Fulham play with attacking full backs in a 4.

Does he? Bagan and Drameh are pretty influential up the attacking end of the pitch.

Just look how often Bagan/Doughty are ever ahead of Ralls, Drameh is more attacking on the right, but he comes from that system. Its just not aggressive enough for me, its pretty safe and it needed to be, i get it.

There are 27 points to play for and we are 18 points ahead of Barnsley, we could have taken a centre half off yesterday and gone for it.

I am not a fan of 3 centre half and wingback in the championship, they just are not good enough. Its a big boy thing.

This is the reason the head of loans at Wolves said to WoL

Wolves explain Giles recall

Wolves loan manager Matt Jackson has suggested that the change of style under Steve Morison was a key factor in the club's decision to recall Ryan Giles.

Giles emerged as one of Cardiff's most creative players during the first half of the season, and was the shining light during an otherwise difficult start to the campaign under Mick McCarthy.

Morison took over following McCarthy's sacking last October, and has made several tweaks to the side in order to get them firing again.

It has, by and large, worked out, with Cardiff hauling themselves 13 points clear of the dropzone, easing concerns over a disastrous relegation to League One.

But the loss of Giles was nevertheless a big blow, with the wideman eventually being loaned out again to Blackburn Rovers.

And speaking to The Athletic, Jackson has since revealed that some of the changes implemented by Morison were part of their motivation for taking him away from the capital.

“They’re not sent on loan and we just bid them farewell for a few months or a season. We’re analysing everything,” he said.

“A good example is (Giles). Under Mick McCarthy, Cardiff were playing quite similarly to Wolves in a lot of different metrics and Gilo was producing quality crosses and regular assists from the left wing.

“Then by the time the manager changes and Gilo goes back to left-back, the formation changed and their style changed, which was really reflected in Gilo’s stats. It wasn’t making the most of what we wanted him there for. We don’t just want 3-4-3 or 3-5-2.”

I’m more than happy it’s what we got at the moment to be honest.

I'm not so sure about that.

Watching on Saturday Drameh and Doughty were often, literally, 10/15 yards ahead of our back four when Preston had possession trying to win it back/intercept it was an obvious ploy. When we had the ball and the ball was with our keeper/back 3 Drameh was often our most advanced player (yes, ahead of Hugill and Davies !!). I don't normally take so much notice but it was so boring I have plenty of time to look at how we were set-up

Where we fell down on Saturday was that both Ralls and Doyle had their worst games for us for a long time (Doyle looked like he was still suffering from illness and looked wiped out after the first couple of minutes). Neither was able to bring their full back into the game and looked devoid of energy. Ralls, in particular, left Doughty massively exposed in the 1st half not providing any cover, I think Morison spotted that as Ralls did provide better cover in the 2nd half but his delivery to Doughty was worryingly slow/inaccurate.

So I'm not sure I'd put down the ordinary performance to a lack of attacking intent, more so that important players weren't on their game. Hopefully we can make a couple of changes on Wednesday and then there is a nice break to refresh everyone for The Jacks :thumbright: Because there will be no experimenting with formations/players for that one
