FA charges Swansea City over players' reaction to Ryan Manning red card

The Football Association has charged Swansea City with failing to control their players following Ryan Manning's red card in their 5-1 defeat by Fulham.

The Swans lost their appeal against Manning's sending off for a first-half foul on Harry Wilson while the game was goalless.

Manning is serving a four-match ban, three for that incident and another for a second red card of 2021-22.

Swansea also now face the prospect of a further sanction.

In a social media post the FA alleged Swansea "failed to ensure its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion during the 42nd minute".

The Swans have until Wednesday, 16 March to respond to the charge.

Points deduction is the only reasonable punishment in my opinion.

On a serious note, huge boost for us that Manning will miss our game against them. I rate him, decent player.

Its getting very common for teams to either surround ref or opposition player to try get an opponent sent off .... how many clubs this season have had same charge levelled at them including city.....

Allan, Chelsea started it in the UK when Mourinho first went there from Porto in Portugal.

Since then its taken off and it happens in nearly every game. We do it.

I suppose the FA have to judge on whether a line has been crossed by what the players say to the match officials.

As I say, we always surround the referee, as do most of the 92.

Ned, we've had some luck lately (Lawrence v Derby was another) and it's about time...

Dare we hope for an end of season penalty? :laughing6:

Agree on the points deduction; it's the only logical solution ;) :laughing6: :ayatollah:

It's when players get around another player looking to get them react to the aggression towards them thats
A bigger problem... saw goalkeeper run 60yrds to reminstrate with opponent.... its especially happening with side winning it wastes time and stops game.... apparently Southampton take a strategic time out if nessasary by player going down so that team can get instructions from bench... :!:
