Josh Murphy back after 137 days

Josh Murphy made his first appearance in 137 days when he came off the bench for Preston in their win over Bournemouth on Saturday.

Murphy's loan move to the Lilywhites has been plagued by injury, with this being just his eighth run-out for the Deepdale outfit.

His last game was a 2-1 win over Coventry City back in October, and the same scoreline was replicated against the Cherries.

Our colleagues at LancsLive rated him a six out of 10 yesterday, saying: "After such a long time out, he understandably was a bit safe at first but grew in confidence and was disciplined at right wing-back. Picked the right passes and had a couple of runs."

During the week Murphy spoke to Preston's in-house media team to reveal how he was getting on in his comeback from injury.

"Really good," he said. "I'm looking forward to everything, I'm stepping up my recovery at the moment. I'm happy and enthusiastic and just ready to crack on now.

"It was nice to stretch my legs (in a reserve game against Fleetwood), obviously being four months without a game. It was nice to be out there with some of the boys again."

Cardiff face Preston next weekend, but Murphy will be ineligible to feature due to the terms of his loan deal.
