Hmmmm, that's not how I recall it at the point of leaving...
He's a professional and I've seen members on here slating a player who dared to acknowledge a former team and it's not just one way either
Some do, some don't; it's no big issue and I feel sure David Marshall will remain in the hearts of most who saw him

Think it’s fair enough for him not to do it through the second half as probably wouldn’t go down too well with QPR fans.

You are absolutely right.
Marlon Pack took a slagging om here for acknowledging the Bristol City fans at Ashton Gate a few weeks ago.
Why do some of our fans think that every old player has to do the Ayatollah when asked to do so? These players (and there have been some great servants such as David Marshall) now play for different teams and their loyalties no longer lie with Cardiff strange as that may seem to us.
And if I remember correctly Marshall and his family were settled happily at Cardiff and would probably have been happy to stay here for the rest of his career but the decision to sell him was taken by the club and he had little say in the matter.
I'd much rather remember him for the fantastic service he gave to the club when he was here than the fact that he didn't tap his head a few times whilst playing for a different team many years after he left the club.
