A Sea Change?

Sat Mar 05, 2022 6:35 pm

In a world that has gone absolutely bonkers for the past two years, it can be comforting, maybe, for us to be positive about something, such as a football team.

But we haven't had that opportunity to be positive for a long time - Until Now.

TBH, towards the end of the McCarthy era, I had lost interest big time. There had been poor results, crap football, no fans and (insert swear word here) 'lockdown', and we were getting fed up with it all.

Let's face it, in spite of momentary successes such as the two brief Premier League outings, Cardiff City FC appeared to be stuck in the past; it was like an Ancient Regime ripe for revolution. But we couldn't see where that was coming from. I

I can remember some time ago fans being concerned that without Lee Tomlin we had no creativity and that we provided no goal scoring threat outside of set pieces. 'We lack pace' echoed around the MBs; and we had no football philosophy, as Nathan Blake often reminded us.

But things have changed since then, especially since Morison has taken charge. There are many players out there in the current squad that have pace, are creative and pose a goal scoring threat. We are vibrant and energetic - even though there is room for lots of improvement.

But this is football that is good on the eye, for the most part. Furthermore, we are now using our young players more than we have for a long time.

McCarthy started this and Morison has run with it and managed it better. I'm not saying that it will all work out, but at least it has created sufficient optimism in me, and others maybe, to remain positive in general.

Things can change for the better.
