For me they are the best pairing I have seen at the city - Adrian Alston remains one of my favourite ever players despite him playing just one season for us. In the modern era it has to be Chopra and Bothroyd :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluebird:

For me it has to be Toshack and Clark. Just fantastic together.

I only saw them play a couple of times together but Brian Clark was a top striker in his own right.

Yep, Evans and Alston were pretty special but there was a season or two when Chopra and Bothroyd were as good if not better.

Special mention for Stant and Dale too.

I remember in 1977? :old: turning up to see George Best's fulham at NP only to be disappointed when he wasn't in their team for the day!! :banghead:
It was also the debut for a certain Robin Friday who partnered Tony Evans up front. Possibly the one of a few times they actually played together but they were both superb that day - almost telelathic understanding. We won 3-0 too :bluescarf:

might not be the best partnership, but one that often gets overlooked, which was key during our survival season in the championship years ago, was Thomo Parry

I remember at the time Liverpool bought John Toshack from us and Bill Shankly was quoted as saying that if Brian Clark had an extra yard of pace, he would have bought him instead! I loved Clarky - I can hear the chant now - "Clarky ooo ooo" and I was there in 1971 with 47,500 other fans when he scored the only goal from a cross from Nigel Rees in a 1-0 win against Real Madrid in the home leg of the European Cup Winner Cup Quarter Final. At the time Real Madrid had been La Liga Champions in 8 out of 10 previous years. Those were the days - unforgettable memories.

would have loved to have been there for that night... My biggest Eurpean match that I can remember for us was v Dinamo Tblisi and we won 1-0 when they were among Europe's better clubs. Shame we lost the away leg 3-0 or 3-1 I think :bluebird:

But hardly played together.

Dale was injured when Stant signed. Probably played together a handful or times and Dale was sadly past his best.

I was going to go for Dale & Pike too.

It seemed, back in the day, that they were both 20+ a season strikers, both vying for club top scorer year after year.

The reality is probably somewhat different!!
