ITALIAN FLAG NOW BANNED AT CCS!

It was good news to see/read about the huge flags being placed in the Upper Ninian Stand and how much others would like to see more...

However, I was surprised and disheartened to hear at the game that one supporter has had his own (Italian) flag removed and been subsequently 'threatened' with a ban for swearing!

Who makes these decisions and on what grounds?

Some people (maybe one?) just seem intent on killing the atmosphere at the CCS and any remaining non-violent interactions between the rival support; something that is (or always was) part of the 'fun' that once created some wonderful atmospheres

Very disappointed with this ridiculous decision.

The guy with the Italian flag is a passionate long-term Bluebird who is at every home game and many aways. The away fans always sing back to him, never a problem. What harm is he doing exactly and why should he be threatened with a ban? What next? A ban on away fans calling us sheep shaggers?

It does seem like a certain individual is intent on killing any type of atmosphere at the CCS, the Canton not being next to away fans and now even banning a flag and a long-term fan for harmless banter.

The non-violent and good humoured 'banter' between rival suporters is pat of the game; but it seems one person is on a nission of self-promotion at the expense of the supporters themselves

I'm all for appropriate measures to keep all supporters safe but some of tgese decisions are petty, unwarranted and very 1984

Have to say that the Stewards I saw on Tuesday evening seemingly had some sympathy with him (the well known flag owner) and an exchange of humour/irony was had by all

No doubt it is a health and safety issue.
Will they ban the away fans singing Ingerland Ingerland ...I don't think so

Is this a case of the club telling stewards to take action or one person on a power trip wanting to feel important? I went to a cup game in the Ninian stand a few years back and there was this one woman who kept telling this small group of teens to sit down and ignoring the 300+ other adults also standing. She wasn’t polite about it either and a few regulars in that area said she was known to be a bit of an arsehole that did things like this.

Very disappointing if this was ordered by the club so hopefully it’s not. Unfortunately sometimes people let a little bit of power go to their heads

Someone's obviously on a power trip. The production of the Iceland or Italy flags have always been done in a non aggressive humorous way and have helped improve the atmosphere.

I'm told it came from higher up at the club. The Stewards on duty seemed to have some sympathy, if the positive interactions between them and the flag owner were an indicator

It is pathetic Chris. The guy had an Iceland flag before and a Croatian one before that. He's brought them for years, done in good humour, never a problem and as.someone else said, actually added to the atmosphere. Banning the flag is pathetic and to also threaten to ban the guy is beyond pathetic. Atmosphere comes from passionate supporters who shouldn't be victimised for harmless banter.
