My View: Steve Morison has deservedly earned a years contract in what he has achieved with NO money. Kept Cardiff City up and improved our football vastly :thumbright: :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

Pleased to hear Tan say we are going to build a competitive squad this summer under Steve Morison, I look forward to this summer and Steve Morison getting a good budget :thumbright: :bluebird:

Owner Vincent Tan:

“I’ve been very pleased with the way Steve has improved our style of play and has helped get the best out of our younger and more established players.”

“Steve deserves this opportunity following the hard work that he has put into driving the players forward on and off the field.”

“I am confident that he is the right person to build a competitive squad over the summer months and I look forward to our continued, honest and positive working relationship.”

That’s music to my ears, I hope he sticks to his word and backs SM and let him have the players he requires to mount a challenge next season. I’m looking forward to next season with SM at the helm, he thoroughly deserves his contract extension.
If Tan sticks to what he has said, (I have no doubt that he will), then we can look forward to excellent football next season. :ayatollah:  :bluescarf:

Absolutely agree with comments above. I wouldn’t not put a downer on this but I can’t see anything in that statement where Tan says Morison will have a decent budget !!! Just that he’s the right man to build a competitive squad !!!

Should add, I think he’ll need some money for some key positions like upfront, centre back, etc.

Try and get that winger in off Derby when they go down, he ran Bagan ragged first half lastnight.

Having had a number of managers (including Warnock) spunk a load of money up against the wall, ( and lets be clear about this managers target players to be signed not committees) Tan has exercised caution with Morison, he as proved his worth in the most difficult of circumstances you could say Morrison has successfully completed his trial as a manager and now can move to the real thing.

I think there is a very positive environment being created with the club as a whole. At last we seam to have a progressive plan runs through the club based of a modern progressive style of football which is pleasing on the eye, that style is being generated throughout the club and will only push us forward in the most positive way.

Just one thought going forward at the end of this month Wales hopefully qualify for the World cup, a certain Mr Bale and dare I say Ramsey will be looking for a club to form the basis of their world cup ambitions, now that would be something if we signed them up and they would certainly not demand wages that City could not afford, it could give them a great swansong to end their careers pushing their hometown club to the premier and it would send a message to other quality players to join the City band wagon. now I think that would have great appeal to Tan's ego.

OK i will stop drinking that stuff now and sit in a quiet corner :laughing5:

Yeah but that was about it.

I thought he look lazy. When Derby got the ball in the box he was no where to be seen. The pundits saw him standing well outside the area on the opposite side of the pitch when he should have been attacking the ball.

First of all well done Steve Morison on a new deal.Next up sort out which out of contract players he wants to try and keep. Then with what ever budget he has (don’t think it will be a lot) start to build the rest of his team with buys, loans and freebie’s.

I’m a Morison fan and would have given him two and a half contract but hey ho. :bluescarf: :occasion5: :ayatollah:

I think if we start playing a nicer brand of football, as we no doubt have, I reckon more of the bigger clubs will be keen to loan us some of their decent players like now with Doyle. Swansea have done it for years. When you haven’t got a big budget it’s a good move, allied to the decent youth we have coming through anyway. Ralls and Wintle will make a decent pairing too. :bluescarf:

I'd be surprised if we stay up next season with no money spent come the start of next season plus we got 8 leaving supposedly but who knows what freebies and deals we will get. We may get a few surprises and not just youngsters being relied on although he knows them better than anyone else coming in to take over so makes sence with what's going on at the club or it be more chants of the manager out if things don't go well that's how daft fans are if we are not near the top 8 come 10 games in :bluescarf:

It’s not all about money but it’s recruiting the right players to fit the system. Malky, Ole and particularly Warnock wasted millions by poor recruiting and as has been said it’s the Manager not the Committee who chooses the what players he wants and Dalman and Choo do the negotiating with Tan stumping up the cash if he’s happy with the deal!
Morrison has said he wants to have the maximum five loan players and can hopefully pick up some bargains, look at our free transfers Ng,Wintle and McGuiness Academy Players like Issac Davies,Ralls,Coldwill,Bagan etc compared to our big money signings like Murphy 11m,Maxine 6m, Bacuna 4m,Vassell 3m, Tomlin 3m etc etc.
So it’s not the amount of money you spend it’s recruiting the correct players that fit your system and so far Morrison has done well!

I agree it's about the right recruitment; but both Malky and Warnock took us to the Premier League, so the club made far more for the club than those two (managers) cost them/it...

By the way, Morrison is a defender called Sean, whilst Morison is the manager and his name is Steve ;)

Two things

Firstly the issue of no money - surely there are loan fees and wages for the players we have on loan unless they are all volunteers so not sure that stands scrutiny

Secondly what do you define as a good budget?
