Cardiff City Football Club is pleased to announce that Steve Morison has signed an extension to his contract to be First Team Manager until the summer of 2023.
Having drastically improved the team’s performances since initially taking interim control in November, the Board of Directors are confident in Steve’s ability to continue this development built around a progressive and clearly identifiable playing style.
Ahead of today’s announcement, Tan Sri Vincent Tan said: “I’ve been very pleased with the way Steve has improved our style of play and has helped get the best out of our younger and more established players.
“Steve deserves this opportunity following the hard work that he has put into driving the players forward on and off the field.
“I am confident that he is the right person to build a competitive squad over the summer months and I look forward to our continued, honest and positive working relationship.”
Speaking to cardiffcityfc.co.uk, Steve said: “I’d like to thank Tan Sri Vincent and the Board for showing this faith in me to take us into the summer and next season.
“I’m very proud to be Cardiff City Manager and to have been given this opportunity to continue the work that we’ve started.
“The remit is clear: it’s my job to ensure we finish this season in the strongest possible way before we rebuild our squad with some fresh faces in the summer and further develop our younger players ahead of the new season.
“I can’t wait for the challenge ahead.”

Common sense from the committee for a change..... makes sense and one season is good way to see if he can make it from beginning of season as upto now done half decent job and certainly turned fortunes and style play completely around in a short time under difficult circumstances.

Great news ! Well deserved IMO . Let’s tie down the players we want to keep like Ralls and get rid of the deadwood and build on for next year

Fantastic news and well deserved.
Hope that finally now the few fans who have mooted other names will support him.
Personally I have full confidence in Morison and this is a great decision by Vincent Tan - you won't hear me say that often!

Good stuff. Hopefully this can also make the likes of Ralls and our army of loanees more keen on signing new contracts now it’s confirmed they’ll be playing under a manager they know in a system they’re used to
No threat of a Tony Pulis or Steve Bruce surprise announcement come August.

Sacked by christmas.
As a Cardiff city fan of course i want him to prove me wrong but he is nowhere near experienced to get us through the most important period we have had for a while.
Doyle and drameh are why we are where we are.
I never wanted Malky though

Agree, Gary; a good move by the club that lets everyone know the path forward into next season
I think Steve Morison deserves the extension and the club have covered themselves by tying him down for another year, whilst giving him incentive to maintain and/or improve his great start to management

well deserved..b4 his appointment we were heading towards league one on the back of eight straight defeats -the worst in our clubs entire history.
we are now playing football thats more pleasing to the eye (tbh couldnt be any worse than under macarthy) and virtually guaranteed staying in the championship next season...21 games in charge 8 WINS, 9 LOSSES, & 4 DRAWS thats solid mid table form.

Well deserved. He’s done really well under restrictions in a short period of time. He’s now got another window where he can free the wages up of a couple of the players out of contract and bring in a couple of decent frees. Young players at premier league clubs will see what he has done with the likes of Doyle and Drameh and realise that we could be the team that best develops them.
Can’t not mention Smithies. Not up there with my favourite keepers of all time but he’s we’d still only be a couple of points off the relegation zone without him. Morison should be doing all he can to tie him down to a new deal too.
