' STEVE MORISON / WAYNE ROONEY '

Tue Mar 01, 2022 8:26 am

Cardiff City boss Steve Morison:

"I was really proud of them [on Saturday, after the 1-0 defeat by Fulham]. I was disappointed we conceded from a set-piece.

"We gave a good account of ourselves. But that’s behind us now and we have got to give a good account of ourselves on Tuesday night.

"Ultimately, we played a really good team and came out with some credit even though we lost. It’s a happy camp.

"Derby, it’s been incredible, they’ve given themselves every single chance to stay in the league.

"[Wayne Rooney] has had a pretty depleted squad at times. If they didn’t have the deduction they’d be doing well in the league.

"But we need to keep them there."

Derby County boss Wayne Rooney:

"It was an OK performance but a disappointing result [the 1-0 defeat by Luton].

"We are at the point of the season where we need to turn draws into wins, but we have got another very difficult game on Tuesday at Cardiff.

“We have to dust ourselves down, forget about this, move on and keep fighting, if we do that then we will be okay.

"We can’t afford to feel sorry for ourselves. It hurts, nobody likes losing games and it’s disappointing but you have to get over it. If you start thinking: ‘we could have done this or could have done that’ then you waste energy which at this moment in time we need to keep all our energy on the pitch.

“We are not going to stay in the division or be relegated based on today’s result; we have to keep pushing.

“The matches remaining are getting less but there is an opportunity for us still. We will keep going, keep working and come the end of the season we will be where we unfortunately deserve to be in some ways because we’ve picked up more points than the position that we’re in - but that’s where we are at."

Big question is - how long before the Canton Stand welcome Rooney with a rendition of “you’re just a fat granny shagger”

Priceless memories :-)
