Just out of interest how old are the players currently playing in the U23s ?

I honestly don't know the answer but are they much younger than the U23 cut-off ?

So many of our youngsters are now either in the first team squad of loaned out I just wondered if we're having to Youth or U19s at the higher level now ?

I think thats the problem. Colwill, Davies, Sang, Bagan to name just a few are all well under 23 and couple out on loan. Also we dont seem to be using first team players who need a game as we used to.

It's not about results for our 23s though is it. If we wanted results we could put half our first team squad back in the 23 as well as our loan players. But that not the idea. Your better u23 players are always going to be promoted to the first team.

It would be interesting to know if only to assess what level they're actually performing at. If they are all playing at their appropriate level then we probably have to be looking at the next age group as maybe we've exhausted the U23 pool for now !!

Not entirely about results but early in the season there was talk of the importance of promotion to a higher level so our youngsters could playing at a higher standard which would aid their development. It would also help us in attracting youngsters

It's understandable we had the best under 23's in the League, they are so good most of them are playing in the Championship with a few in League 1 and 2,this is the under 23's reserves and younger age groups, and they've also lost their Manager and assistant Manager to the Championship, so all things being considered they are doing well, and we've started the search for the next batch!

100% promotion is needed to develop them more and a higher standard and that was all the talk last August.

U23 football is bordering on pointless. Need to be playing senior football, not an exhibition game
