Mon Feb 28, 2022 8:07 pm

Tommy Doyle will be available again next season from Manchester City / But so was Giles from Wolves and the worry is the better he plays the bigger the club that will be after him?

Man City will be looking to send him on a season long loan.

Cardiff will enquire about having him on loan for the full duration of next season.

I have a horrible feeling Man City will want him to go on loan in the Prem next season.

I hope I’m wrong and if there is a chance then if we pay his wages surely we’d be in with a shout if Morison is still here ?

The better he does for us, the less likely he'll be here next season. I think he'll still be in the championship but for a team who'll be challenging for promotion. Maybe a team relegated from the prem or a team that loses in the playoffs.

It's not about challenging for promotion or a better team? its about his development and he's certainly developing with us so if things continue next season why wouldn't man c or the player not want come back here? Money may be a problem if man c want to much but suspect it wont be the case.

They'll review how he's been doing with us and how we've been playing. They'll also keep a close eye on whether Morison stays.

If they're happy with all that, it's likely they'll allow us to keep him for another season.

Very unlikely that he'll be loaned out to a Premier League team having only had one season at second tier level (half with us, half with Hamburg in Bundesliga 2). The way Manchester City work, they'd want him to have at least one more season in the Championship.

Those saying he'd go to a team competing at the top, well we could easily be competing for the top six again next season. There has been marked improvement in the short space of time since Morison took the job. That improvement is likely to increase with a full pre-season for the manager, should he stay.

Crucially, going by his comments in the press, I think Doyle would want another season with us.

I can see us keeping Doyle for next season.

Lots of good points here. My only only worry is that Giles also indicated that he wanted to stay but ended up going to Blackburn. Who knows the real reason though. Here’s hoping that Doyle will be here next season. I’d certainly be making enquiries now rather than waiting til the end of the season. Same with Drameh though that is complicated by the new manager going in.

He’s developing a special rapport with the fans. Barnsley away before the tunnel at the end of the game and Huddersfield away when he scored he loves it.

The same reason Giles was recalled and then sent to a team challenging top 6, despite us wanting him back. Hopefully we see him back here but personally, I think he'll be at a team more likely to get promoted.

Giles left when we were not in same position as we are now.. also do we actually know why he was recalled? wolves said they wanted him in their squad as they lost a player long term .... dont understand why being top 6 is any better than playing for a team that is enhancing his development like we are? We were top 6 couple seasons ago but do you honestly believe doyle or Giles clubs would want them playing hoofball or similar as we were at the time... :old:

Both Giles and Doyle have played well for us this season - 2 Good loans .

Giles has not had the same impact at Blackburn to date - Ask the question to either player for next season .

Mate, Giles was taken back and they assessed him, Morison asked for him back, Wolves said no as they wanted him playing in a club being more successful than City thats why he went to Blackburn. clubs want their loan players playing to a higher standard, thats how it works

Ahh right Giles went back because we were bottom part of league so we were not good enough for wolves.... man c academy cannot be that fussy where they send their young players as obviously took opposite view with doyle as we are still bottom part league .....

Absolutely made up.

They told us to wait, we didn’t want to risk waiting so signed Doughty. Then he became available and we had Doughty.

That's how I thought it panned out too. Morison said as much and tbf he's been pretty straight.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Man City try to sell him in the summer

He is nowhere near the Man City first team and probably never will be

Cash in while his value is going up

Not saying they aren't developing being here but being surrounded by better players will be better for any players development. We will just have to wait and see what happens next season. The teams challenging for promotion will be relegated teams from premier league .... will he go there will they need him as now these clubs tend to keep same squad in hope go back up... other problem is whos going to be challenging from rest championship it's so topsy turvy last seasons challengers are struggling and those that struggled are doing well now? But spanner in the works is morison being given new contract could be game changer.
