MY VIEW: TODAY LEAGUE LEADERS & BIG SPENDERS FULHAM PLAYED C

Sat Feb 26, 2022 4:51 pm

MY VIEW / OPINION:

TODAY LEAGUE LEADERS & BIG SPENDERS FULHAM PLAYED CARDIFF C & CARDIFF DEFENDED WELL BUT THE BETTER TEAM WON ON THE DAY.

Before today, Cardiff had only won just one of their last 11 league matches against Fulham (D5 L5), a 4-2 home win in the Premier League in October 2018, now its 12 games.

We gave a good account of our selves, but the pts were always going to Fulham.

Cardiff now need to get back to winning ways against Derby this Tuesday night.

James Collins started, but once again failed in front of goal.

FIRST-HALF: Fulham had the better and over all deserved their half-time lead of 0-1 86.8% Possession Fulham.

SECOND-HALF: Fulham just controlled the game to the pace they wanted and got the 3pts they wanted. The last 10mins were all Cardiff, but to little to late.

Cardiff City : Smithies; Ng, Flint, McGuinness; Drameh, Vaulks, Doyle, Ralls, Doughty; Collins, Colwill.

Hugill and Davies on the bench.

I was told illness has hit the camp in last 24 hours, affecting Harris, Uche and Hugill

GOAL! Cardiff City 0-1 Fulham (Mitrovic 41)
Mitrovic scores.

GOAL! Cardiff City 0-1 Fulham (Mitrovic 41)
Mitrovic scores.

Wilson floated a nice ball to the back post and, astonishingly, no one is marking Mitrovic.

The striker headed back across goal and past Smithies into the net. Such a soft goal to concede.

H-T 0-1

57th min: Colwill off, Davies on.

Fulhams class is way above Cardiff

67th min: Second City change: @joelbagan replaces @alfiedoughty4

Fulham:
Harrison Reed off, Josh Onomah on..

76th min: Ryan Wintle on for Will Vaulks, for Cardiff.

79th min: Tete on for Neco Williams, for Fulham.

86th min:DeCordova-Reid off, Cavaleiro on.

The last 10 mins were all Cardiff.

Another team to visit us who did not need to get out of second gear to take all the points.

We have been playing all season without a striker to scare our opponents. As soon as we go a goal down we struggle.

We need to survive this season and address these problems.

Ref very poor we didn’t deserve anything. Collins and Vaulks very poor . My opinion if Hugill is good enough to be on the bench should have been brought on as Collins is not good enough for this squad

Collins had the golden chance and blew it. He always puts in 100% but really not good enough. Must be moved on in the summer if we survive. There is still lot of work to do and for all the improvements Morison has made we remain a poor side with one point out the last 3. Not convinced completely yet. Tuesday is a must not lose.

Can’t agree with this.
We gave them a few scary moments/half chance and if they could have scored the second they would have to make it comfortable.
But they couldn’t.

Goal down we struggle?
Not today as we played better in the second half.

I thought we played some great football today and the crowd agreed as there was great applause after the final whistle.

Collins was a waste of time again and with a decent centre forward it could have easily been a draw.

Collins is parks standard.
Vaulks isn’t up to that level. Why does Morison persist with him?
Both should be looking for new clubs in the summer along with IMO Flint who looks so vulnerable in defence.

Can’t fault the effort today, especially second half - didn’t deserve to lose

On the train back, agree with what others are saying.

Fulham a class above us and they didn't really have to get out of second gear.

Collins simply isn't good enough. He works hard but doesn't have the quality to do well at this level. Took his offside goal well but the Fulham goalkeeper knew he was offside. If the first half chance had been for Hugill (if he was playing), it would have been a goal.

Flint had a chance towards the end but it was a hard shot to hit and he was unlucky.

Flint, Doyle, Ng and Drameh our standout performers.

The referee was absolutely awful for both teams.

Flint?? He left Mitrovic free. He also was culpable for one of Huddersfield’s goals.
He makes too many mistakes. Look at the difference in quality at Fulham’s central defenders.

Our wing backs were good today, good to see Doughty back but pity he has to compete for a place with Bagan.

4pts from our last 15pts not good enough in my opinion.

Jesus I'm fed up with the negativity on this board I'm out of here! While MM was in charge I could understand it but so much better now yet we're still a bunch of whingers . Can understand away fans having a go at our support . We're so negative it's unbelievable.

You say 4 points out of 15 isn't good enough Annis.
What were you expecting ?
What changes would you have made to obtain points ?
Which players would you have changed with the personnel available for these 5 games?
1 win, 1 draw 3 defeats
What were you expecting?
opinions ?

We played 1st and 3rd in our last 2 games. Losses were always to be likely from these 2 fixtures. We were moments away from taking points off Huddersfield and we kept Fulham, a team with 82 goals in 32 games, to only 1-0. Had we lost 3 or 4 nil in both I’d understand the criticism but the team is miles ahead of where we were a few months ago.

Take off these 2 games and it’s 10 points from 15. 3W 1D 1L.

There's no need for the negativity today. They had the better squad but we had the better chances. I feel we could have or should have at least got a draw with that performance, same as Huddersfield away. Absolutely hate losing but can see we are going in the right direction, finally.

First half was watching shadows - still cringing at that pitiful effort from our parks no 9 and watching Flint get mugged by Mitrovic

I was proud of our effort second half. Every player, albeit some have less ability than others (Vaulks & Collins) but they didn’t stop making an effort & they never gave up and deserved a draw at least. You can’t ask for anything more. They’re just not at the same skill level as most other championship clubs.

A few key players missing but ultimately you swap mitrovic for Collins and we would havery won

I agree. I think we’re doing as well as can be expected under the circumstances.

If we’d have kept Wilson and Reid we would have won that game and been challenging at the top of the League rather than struggling to avoid relegation!

If? :?

Did you actually see what happened at our club during the summer?

Reid wanted out (2 seasons ago now) as much as Keiffer and we could hardly afford Wilsin's boot laces this season

What's been lost is city had z weakened team out...
Would it have been different if hougil was in Collins position for that chance or he played from start? The truth is city didn't allow them to play their normal way and with better finishing would have won game... that's the last two games could have and possibly should have won and not by being lucky but by playing a lot better and against top teams in league..... if that is not an improvement nothing is.
