Mustn't get hammered today

Sat Feb 26, 2022 9:59 am

I've put this as a separate thread to the match thread because it is today's game that will show us just how far we have or haven't come under SM.

Every team goes through a decent run relative to their league position whether it's a winning run or a run without a loss. May be 4 games maybe 20 games.

I've seen green shoots in the performance since we have stopped loading the side with kids, and one or two are now showing the starts of flourishing.

For me today playing the best side in the league shows how far we have come inasmuch as how good do we have to be to be challenging at the top.

Let's be honest, a lot will expect a loss today, and we need to show we are not just on one of our good seasonal runs, but that we can stay consistent and competitive.

A hammering today will show the scale of the challenge we face when all the loans return to their parent clubs. The gulf between class and not, the gulf between being able to compete as a professional team and not.

Fulham have handed plenty of teams their backsides on a plate this year. If we can avoid that, a single goal defeat, a draw, which, isn't beyond us, or a win, which would be fantastic, I'll look forward to the remainder of the season thinking we may have turned the proverbial corner and that we are not the cannon fodder that was cobbled together by the leadership at the beginning of the season.

Next year it is then over to the leadership, whoever they may be, to simply look at the beginning, then the end of this season and decide what they want for next. It's a simple decision for them to make and the wrong one will determine theirrespect for Cardiff City.

Good post with good points. I truly believe we will get a score draw today and if us fans are in good voice today we may even spring a surprise!!

A draw for me would be a great result against a £multi million team , with pure class players.

I see where you’re coming from and I don’t completely disagree but I don’t think this game should be used as an absolute measure of how far we’ve come. Fulham are far better than a usual “top end team” and can batter anyone in the league (I think they’ve scored 7 goals in 3 different games this season).

If we lose 3-0 I don’t think that shows we can’t handle our own at the top of the championship because I genuinely think this Fulham squad would survive quite comfortably in the Premier League if you dropped them in it.

I'm expecting a win today.

Fulham are going through one of those difficult patches. Yes they won against lowly Peterborough but struggled against Huddersfield where they lost. We put up a better performance against Huddersfield Wednesday night than they did last Sunday so going of all that I can see us producing an upset here.

As you using our youth earlier this season i was against it. it was not working and thankfully we have done something about it. Hopefully the club have learnt a lesson here and will continue to go in the direction away from the mistakes they have made.

Problem being we have been hit by illness and now I will be very surprised if we get a point, not being negitive just realistic :banghead:

Certainly didnt get hammered..... some msy say Fulham didn't get out of 1st gear but that is mainly because we didn't let them? They Were Restricted to fewest shots this season and they abandoned their tippy tap football for long balls over top to try get around the back of us.... to say we have not turned corner is being disengeniuse to manager and players its plain to see in our performances lately that we have. Big difference today was mitrovic and that's been Fulhams story most season without him they wouldn't be where they are in league.

So we didn’t get hammered today and even neutrals said we should have had at least a point.

Yet you, in other threads, are a having a pop at the club and a number of players.

Are you just blindly biased against the club or just thick !!??

Apparently Planet Swans is also a good place for anti-Cardiff posts !!

He probably thought we would take a hammering and is probably dissapointed we didn't. The fact he hasn't been back on this thread to follow up on his OP says a lot.

Pick out the positives in my post please, if tlu can be borhered to read my posts and stop making anti Barclay threads Instead of adding to or debating the topic.

If you don't read the post how can you reply with conviction.

As I've said before, very disappointing poster.

Allan, I agree; despite losing massive possession to Fulham, our team carried out the 'game plan' and (goal apart) did it well given the obvious attacking quality of the Fulham midfield and the Championship's (new) record goal scorer

On a rumoured £120k+ a week(?), if only he could do it in the Premier League they might one day stay up, eh? ;) :laughing6:

Very disappointed with Harry Wilson's antics, too! :(

Think you find the beef is you did not come back to follow up your OP because we didn't get hammered? And the betting is if we lost 4 or 5 nil you would have been back... and unfortunately you bring this on yourself no natter how hard you try to justify your posts.... all you've done in response to them is whinge about their posts nothing about the result or how team played which your thread was about...your not only one who make statements and don't follow up if it goes wrong.... it's all about peoples perception of you that's all....

Yep, have a look on the Colwill going backwards thread for what I mean in terms of Barclay now backtracking on opinions despite being proved wrong on his OP in this thread. There is no acknowledgement of the progress being made.

Apparently, now, none of these youngsters are going to make it and we’ve been brainwashed into thinking they would !!

Not all will make it, that’s quite true. But I think Colwill, Isaak Davies, Bagan, Denham and McGuinness will (and possibly Patton) and that’s a pretty good return.
