Scotland v Ukraine: World Cup play-off in serious doubt as Russian invasion forces league suspension and airspace closure

Scotland’s upcoming World Cup play-off opponents have been thrown into disarray after Ukraine's domestic football league was suspended following the Russian invasion.

The other play off game is Wales v Austria

And Winners meet each other

Its highly unlikely to be played, with literally all the Ukrainian Squad being home-based players and the fact that Ukrainian airspace now closed, there is no chance that game will take place.

Whilst everyone has great sympathy with the dreadful situation in the country, it looks like Scotland have a bye through to the final match, that puts them at a massive advantage over Wales/ Austria. The Scotland squad will be fresh, no injuries, no cards incurred.

Although there are more important things than football going on there atm I’d rather Scotland at CC stadium…providing we oust Austria.

Bring on the jocks we 'll have had a win a week before hopefully and they robbed us twice in 1978 and 1984 which stoppage on my mind today. I hope we play them and win 2 0 both disputed penalties !!!

I would expect FIFA to get the Scotland Ukraine game played.

Would seem awful to punish the Ukrainians over this. It seems many are getting to the Polish border where airspace is not under closure.

Anfield definitely handball by Joe Jordan, Ninian Park was a stonewaller. FWIW I’d support Wales in any future clash.
