MY VIEW:FOR ME THE RESULT WAS FAIR / BLACKPOOL EDGED THE

Sat Feb 19, 2022 4:52 pm

MY VIEW / OPINION:

FOR ME THE RESULT WAS FAIR / BLACKPOOL EDGED THE FIRST-HALF, CARDIFF THE 2ND.

Over all not the best of games, but another point towards safety for Cardiff :thumbright: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

TODAY CARDIFF WERE LOOKING FOR THEIR 4TH CONSECUTIVE HOME VICTORY & LOOKING TO DO THE DOUBLE OVER BLACKPOOL, BUT IT WASNT TO BE.

Please dont say tired legs as every club are in the same situation.

Steve Morison started with local boy Isaak Davies and ex Southampton Academy playerJoel Bagan .

Denham and King from City's U23 team were on the bench.

Morison had said Rubin Colwill was fit, but their was No place for him in todays match day squad.

James Collins seems to have been totally pushed out and I dont blame Morison for that.

1ST-HALF: 10th min: A good headed goal by Blackpool, But a Soft one to concede

18th min: Great save by Smithies, denying Blackpool a certain 2nd goal.
For me Blackpool looked comfortable with their lead and Cardiff had not really threatened.
City needed to improve vastly in 2nd-half.

2ND-HALF: When Bagan equalised in the 49th min :bluebird: :bluebird: Cardiff became a totally different team and took control of the game :thumbright: :bluebird:

CARDIFF CITY 1 BLACKPOOL 1
H-T 0-1
Crowd: Attendance: 19,025

Away Support: 710

Cardiff City: Smithies; Ng, Flint, McGuinness; Drameh, Wintle, Doyle, Vaulks, Bagan; Hugill, Davies.

Subs: Phillips, Denham, Doughty, Pack, King, Harris, Ikpeazu.

10th Min: GOAL! Cardiff City 0-1 Blackpool (Ekpiteta 11 rose above Cardiff's defence and headed in

18th min: Great save by Smithies, denying Blackpool a certain 2nd goal.

For me Blackpool looked comfortable with their lead and Cardiff had not really threatened.

Cardiff need to improve massively in 2nd-half.

H-T 0-1

49th min: GOAL! Cardiff City 1-1 Blackpool (Bagan 49)
Goal! BAGAN AGAIN! :bluebird: :bluebird:

Drameh ran down the right to get past his man and he fizzed in a cross. Youn Bagan drills home from the middle of the box. :bluebird: :bluebird:

72nd min: Hugill off, Ikpeazu on.

79th min: Isaak Davies off, Mark Harris on.

Ikpeazu came close!

For me a draw was a fair result for both sides.

AGREE - fair result. (I thought City were lucky to get away with the penalty appeal against Wintle )

Morison is rotating and every club now in same boat.
So I hope he does not say tired legs.

Disappointing first half, are midfield didn't do anything really, left our CBs no option other to go long. Doyle passing let him down first half as well.

Second half much better, when the momentum was with us we failed to do anything, not from lack of effort just some poor passing.

Ref was shocking, Blackpool didn't seem in a rush to do anything after going one up

Derby will stay up I'm sure of it. Look at the fight they've given to be within touching distance. Might be an interesting last game of the season :ayatollah:

A match we would have lost before Christmas, but a match we nearly won today. Big improvement. :bluescarf:

Very ordinary performance today as we looked tired. But fair do’s we ground out a draw.
Off topic Tom Lawrence sent off for derby and will miss our game

Agree we would have folded a few weeks ago.

McGuiness stops any momentum for the left flank, he is so slow on the ball and cautious it bloody painful. We are going to need at least two centre halfs next season by the looks of it so they need to be able to play a bit is we want to continue playing this way.

Bagan is really looking a player now

Sounds like a cue for the snow to fall to prevent the Derby team coach from leaving their ground.

We didn't press in the first half while Blackpool did and we were often to deep. The soft goal in the 12th minute did the damage, we cannot let that start creeping in to our game again as we've been a lot better defensively of late.

Like the Coventry game, we came out after HT and played with more intensity which SM asked for and it made all the difference, we need to be starting games like this and not waiting till the second half. Bagan's equaliser was well taken but we also missed a nailed on sitter so could have ended up 2-1 or 1-0 if we hadn't have conceded a soft goal so early.

I feel it's a game we could have won but the bigger picture is that it's another point towards our safety target of 40 points, so we're a win and a draw away from it now.

Very poor performance against an average Blackpool side who had injuries! Much most consistency needed required with some hard fixtures coming up, we are not out of trouble yet especially with two games against Derby still to be played !
