And if We ever went back to the Premier League.
Cardiff City have full planning permission for the Capacity to be increased to 57,000.
Fully Granted in 2002.
For me this is a massive selling point.
I honestly believe we could eventually get those type of crowds of 50,000 plus if we stayed up their.

OMG never realised that
We would definately fill that as we progressed.

I 100% believe we would
If we had, had 7 consecutive years up in the Premier like the Jacks did, Def.

Why not?
I've been in crowds of 50K above twice. An established Cardiff City club in the Premier would achieve that regularly.

Would only be full for the biggest games. The likes of Newcastle, Crystal Palace, Watford, Fulham etc would only attract c 30k.

I thought that the capacity was reduced because of the supermarket and McDonald's being built. Something to do with the exit points.

Legislation would allow for a new risk assessment to be carried out, which means it is possible
I recall the original grand plans laid out by Sam and they were impressive; even more so than the build that actually occurred.
Like the current ground, they had the option of building a second tier on the three remaining sides (the Upper Ninian Stand being an example) and that could still occur (subject to)
The only sad thing was that Sam was unabke to see his grand ideas through, as this club would (for me) now be established in the Premier League and using the small, provincial club down the M4 as a 'feeder'

Perhaps I could put this into a little bit of context....
In our Premier League year our accounts show that our Turnover was £125.2m and the costs of achieving that was £60.8m leaving a Gross Profit of £64.3m based on a 30,000 seater stadium
If we were to extrapolate those figures to a 57,000 seater stadium we could be looking at:
Turnover: £237.8m
Costs: £115.5m
Gross Profit: £122.3m
Such figures would be more than sufficient to ensure a top 8 side capable of sell-outs week in week out.

I think we would only need that capacity if we were a top six team.

Depends if the owner is willing to spend big for us to reach the premier league.
And if we can stay in the league because we only had 1 season wonders in 2013 and 2018. Other than this was 53 years ago.
And if the new owners are from a Saudi takeover like Newcastle....but doubtful.
Personally i cant see us getting new owners or getting a 50+ thousand seater stadium as long as Tan is here.
Because the club is stricken of any money for anything like this.
So I guess we can all dream but it is all about what Tan wants to do for this club and if he is willing to stick it out for season after season with limited spending money.

7 years continuous in the PL wouldn’t be enough to go from 30k to 50k+. That kind of leap is done by converting the younger generations and having kids born and growing up with a successful, regular PL team on their doorstep. We’d need closer to 15 years to get 50k+ crowds consistently.

I totally agree with this. To talk about us getting 50k crowds is totally unrealistic in this day and age.
We were not "selling out" when we were in the premiership under Malky and Warnock apart from the odd game or two.
Despite being towards the bottom of the table for both our recent Premier League seasons we still had the 11th highest attendances comparably with Leicester who have recently won the League. 50k wouldn’t be a problem if we were an established Premier League team. Also we have a bigger catchment area than Newcastle who regularly get 50k crowds!

I think you'll find the 'potential' for a successful Cardiff City is enormous, if the right infrastructure and marketing was in place
We have a huge catchment area to be harnessed and our unique position as 'Welsh' and a 'Capital' would help
Biggest rivals Bristol City are another club who might feel this way (potential for real growth) but the Swans simply don't fall into that category

Yes, the ability to extend the ground was build in at planning stage.
However, one note of caution. We didn’t sell out every home game last time we were there. Why would it be any different next time ?
I would absolutely love to see it but, unfortunately, I just can’t.
People were moaning about adding the extra tier on the Ninian Stand despite it being partly financed from elsewhere. Who’s going to pay for this extension at the same time as keeping a competitive first team in the Premiership ?

7 years in mid/lower prem with a stadium of 35k is about right for us. Dillusions of grandeur I think.
To get anywhere near 50k on a regular basis we'd have to be around the top 6 for a long period of time and have generations of new fans coming through.
We can but dream...

I’d love to be probed wrong but can’t see it myself.
That’s 3 x the crowd on Tuesday…..
Even taking into account the hypothetical “Cardiff established premier league” I just can’t see it.

Obviously I mean PROVED not probed-sounds painful

Totally spot on....needs maybe 2 decades as so many people in South Wales support other non related football teams... needs a big change to get us to 57k....ai think 35k to 45k is possible in the next 5 years depending on who we are playing
I once believed we were bigger than we actually are..the attendances right now just show us as a championship average supported club and no more...
Championship is a better league anyway

We are in good form, playing decent football with 4 possibly 5 homegrown players in the squad yet today’s attendance will actually only be about 14,000 although it will be announced as 18,000
I think getting 50k+ crowds is unrealistic even if we were established premier league team
30-35,000 is the best we would average with the odd 40k crowd for big games
I don’t think we are “as big” a club as many people seem to think we are
Sat Feb 19, 2022 10:14 am
There was a time not so long ago we were delighted with 8k as a one off, let alone 20k regular.
The one thing VT has proven in getting to the PL , we are capable of averaging 31k regular.
Perhaps 57 k is to big a jump, but no one is watching local RU games, there is a definately a market to be tapped to take it over 45k with a top 6 team.
