Looks like DJ isn't using him properly. He seems to have pretty good on-ball ability, so I don't understand why he never gets low balls, he clearly isn't good in air

Annis if we give him time to settle i think he will have a very important part to play in our promotion push
ok hes never gonna hold a place in the starting eleven but its good to have him as back up and it also gives us options regarding formations etc

Yes I am with you on that Ristey, good Squad player.

He's not a replacement for Bothroyd, thats clear. But he looks like a decent player and with everyone fit might do a job coming off the bench. I dont think we can get better than Jay and will struggle for back-up.

He will score a few goals maybe as an impact player coming off the bench, he is NEVER a target man!!!!!

Jurys out on him. He is not a goal machine thats for sure. Annis how would you use him ?
Sun Sep 19, 2010 8:57 am
He has been asked to do a job he is not designed for.
He reminds me of Steve Owen in the fact he gets into the area where there is space. Our plan B should be exactly that accommodating such a player. Sadly our guys dont know how to play that, passing the ball to someone in space.

Played well against us at Ninian with Ebanks Blake his co striker.
There's a player who would replace JB

Too early to tell for me. Works hard but a little lightweight.
No real cover for Jay, hasn't got the weapons (height, strength, pace, skills) but better than Etuhu or Johnson !
I guess he will be handy due to his ability to play in lots of positions.

Someone like oberts @ Blackburn would be ideal IMO
as replacement/ cover for Jay
We are still a few short to make a sustained challenge,
especially if injuries continue.

He is neither a Jay type of a Chops type but somewhere inbetween. Of course the jury is still out on him but the players are still learning his type of game and them his. I think he is a better option than Rossco and I would hope add more professionalism to the dressing room.
I thought Keogh lead the line well against Hull although he was never going to be a Jay he is just a different player.
Against Ipswich it seemed like he played more wide in a 4-5-1 than upfront in a 4-4-2.
No one can question his work ethic and is an ideal player to bring on for example when winning a game 1-0 and trying to close the game down as he will run and run.

He is not a target man.
When he came on against Portsmouth he had the ball to his feet most times and he looked strong and looked as if he could do something with it, this long ball tactics by DJ has to stop when Bothroyds off, We gotta learn to play a different style without Bothroyd.

Keogh isn't a goalscorer - you've just got to look at his record to know that.
He'll probably be useful though, over the course of a season, especially if he ever plays up front with bellers.
Sun Sep 19, 2010 7:36 pm
Your right Leigh isn't an out and out goalscorer but then neither is rossco
Other than the season he scored all the pens.

Not really sure what his best position is.
He's certainly not a target man from what we've seen so far and do we need another winger when we've got Whitts, Burke, Bellamy and also Koumas who usually play wide.
He's shown that he is not capable of being a replacement for Jay.
He's not great in the air, has no real pace and seems easy to brush off the ball.
He certainly runs around a lot but not terribly productively so far to be honest.
Where should we play him to get the best out of him?

To post above
Winger def. but we already have plenty of them. He's kinda player that plays shit but if you can give him some room he'll do wonders.
