Mark Harris 'like a man possessed' on training ground
Steve Morison says goalscorer Mark Harris has been doing his utmost to impress on the training ground recently, amid increased competition for places in his starting XI
Harris netted a decisive second goal, his fourth of the current campaign, having come off the bench for the second time in a week.
The Wales star hasn't started a league game since the 3-2 defeat to Bristol City, and Morison has been impressed by the way in which the forward had applied himself on the training ground recently.
STEVE MORISON:
"It was a great finish, he's cut in and taken it so quickly," Morison said when dissecting the Welshman's goal. "Funnily enough, if you'd watched training yesterday, he did that yesterday. He was like a man possessed.
"Literally everything he touched went into the back of the net.
"It wasn't a surprise when he did it, but it's nice to see."
Harris is just one of several forwards now in the building, and says the level of competition within the squad is helping to push everyone to be better on the training ground.
“There’s a lot of competition up top for a place in the side, so you can’t take your foot off the pedal," Harris said. "You’ve got to show what you can do every day in training, then taking the opportunity when you get it with both hands.
“It’s a group of good lads that we’ve got in the squad, including those who came in last month. We’re all pushing each other on in training and on the pitch, it’s healthy for us and good for the team.
“I played Saturday and wanted to keep going into as many games as possible. I got my head down and kept training as hard as I could, which hopefully I can keep taking into the games.”
James Collins, Mark Harris, Isaak Davies, Jordon Hugill, Uche Ikpeazu and Max Watters.

I still think Harris has a bit to do to prove himself at this level but you can't ask for anything more than the effort he is clearly putting in.
He certainly took his goal well and linked up with Hugill well too after he came on.
Nice to have options.

A useful impact player - Never the same player when he starts a game

As you say, I don't think effort will ever be in question with him but imo he's got to find that level of consistency in order to establish himself as a starter rather than an impact sub.

Harris has played under 4 different Managers at Cardiff and has failed to impress.
I think and still believe he is League 1.
But he is good for 15-20mins.
He def gives effort, but does not have the quality in my opinion.

Yes, I think you'll probably be proved correct but it would be nice if we were both wrong.
I'd certainly rather he be a success than some of the others we're currently paying who don't put anywhere near the effort in that he does (Watters, Bacuna, etc.).
