and now 20 million on giving £1600 a month to some teenagers coming out of care without any conditions
more than some full time workers
We have a thing called the social and benefits system that picks the tab up for this sort of thing
Mark drakefords mantra throughout the pandemic with lockdowns etc was i am saving peoples lives in wales
Well 20 million should go straight away to ambulances services in wales if thats the case
people are dying waiting for an ambulance to turn up 6/8 hours late
the teenagers coming out of care fall under the umberella of social care and are not imo under threat of death
I wonder was this idea in there manifesto ?
I have known people and a friend who have died before they got to hospital because of the shambolic waiting times for an emergency ambulance to arrive.

They’d get the money for two years mate but as usual politicians think just throwing money at a problem will solve it. Be better spending it on training kids in care homes for work, apprenticeships etc.

i said why not just analyse the data from those trials rather than throw 20 million plus on an experiment
The one guy interviewed from finland where this was one of the countries where this was carried out said he basically packed in the few jobs he had and just acepted the cash
after this pandemic i am sure a lot of working people would like to have £400 quid cash every week even the people caring for them
the timing is way of the scale when there are lots of people trying to make ends meet and are working full time.

God you desperately need help, are you accusing me of being of the looney left whatever that is, if it is hoping that someone is willing to help these kids then yes I am. and not ashamed of it, you need to thank god that you are not in the same position that these kids are in.
If a service is needed as this is, then yes it is funded out of the public purse just like any other project, the only thing I will say is that £1600 a month is a lot of money, and it should only be financed to a persons need, not as a monthly sum,, but even that you would say is a looney left idea, there is nothing loony about trying to help someone in need, you need to try it sometime

Sorry fella I don't need any help to see straight through what is nothing more than a vanity project for the looney left. Drakeford and his cronies NEED Plaid to get any legislation through the Senedd as Labour does not have a majority. This "Policy" has Adam Price written all over it.
This is not a service it's a handout and a very large handout directly from the public purse with NO strings attached. Our benefits system require, in many cases, a means tested method of checking if it's really needed, not here have £1600 a month and do what you like. It's madness pure vanity politics.
This is estimated to cost £25m over the 3 years of the trial to help around 500 people, do they need help? almost certainly yes and there are already a range of state benefits to help them. Why not spend this money on a support network for these people to make sure they integrate into society as smoothly as possible making sure they get support for housing, finding work and access to any medical needs they have. This "Policy" as I see it just gives them £20k a year. For what?
You think I'm a callous b*stard and maybe I am but I have during my working life helped people from this type of background by giving them jobs, helped them fill out forms and in a handful of cases helped them get housing and in some cases getting them help to learn to read and write. I'm also proud that in 2 cases they progressed their careers and become managers helping others so I do understand the sort of help these youngsters need. Giving them a handout is not the answer as when the money stops and they have to get off the gravy train what happens? Drakeford and Price won't give a toss trust me.
Money is a small part of this but for goodness sake spend it in a way that helps and not to satisfy political expediency.

I have to agree with you on some of the points you brought up in your post, yes it does need to be means tested, and not a hand-out, but it is something that is needed urgently
To make kids homeless just because they have reached the age of 18 should never happen, and needs to be corrected
It is good that you have helped people in the past but you did come over in your early post as being very callous as you called it, sorry if I have offended you.
I have been in the same position as these kids are in now, and I felt that I should at least try to put their position forward so people can understand their plight
